Is the credit crunch hitting america that badly?
The numbers for fights were pretty low before the credit crunch I dont see much difference.

    Are ticket prices too high?

Do you prefer the ppv with a few beers and your mates at home?

Is boxing not big in america due to the lack of talented/exciting american fighters?

I only ask because I seen somewhere that there were 9.5k fans at the hatton fight and 6.5k were brits. Calzaghe fans outnumbered the Jones fans.
Pavlik Taylor 2 couldnt sell out an arena.

    Whats happening?

Interest in boxing is going downhill fast, because of PPV, joke fights, too many sanctioning bodies etc.
Also, it wasn't a particularly inspiring match up last night between Hatton and Malignaggi.

Hatton vs. Pac would be huge.

Funny that Hatton can fill a 55,000 seat stadium fighting Lazcano in England, but RJJ can only get a couple of thousand American fans to MSG...
Seems like Britain and the rest of Europe are the best places for the biggest fights these days.

I think boxings losing all its hype. Everyone seems to be liking MMA more now and those who dont like either say boxing is barbaric. That and Im sure the prices dont help, though I go to local pro fights all the time.

Opinion was split, I thought Paulie had a good chance of getting a points decision, because Hatton had looked past his best recently. I think a lot of people gave Paulie a good chance, also.

i'd rather watching the fight home on ppv than spend the money for the tickets, but whenever the Klitschko's fight in the US I will go see them and usually get ringside seats for that fight.

People who thought Paulie would win must have been on drugs. I mean Paulie has no power and sometimes likes to brawl. I knew Hatton will impose his will on him and make it an easy fight out of it and thats what happen.

Why would anyone go root for Paulie Malignaggi?

Paulie isn't even popular in Brooklyn and he lives there for christs sake.

You may laugh but unlike Haye vs Barret or Calzaghe vs Jones this was an even fight,Hatton looked past it in his last one,Malignaggi seemingly had a bad style for him,no 1 in the division vs no 2.This was an even fight,Paulie is **** at elite level, that is the problem
