I heard time and time again that situps does not give you hard abs unless u mix it with running,is this true, whats ur opinion on this theory
I think what they mean is that just training your abs is useless if there's a patch of fat on top of it, and that's where the running comes into play.
You can be able to do 5000 situps and still not have abs. What alot of people dont realize is that abs are only conditioning and doing situps. And doing those excercises may make them bigger and harder, but body fat percentage is a HUGE part of it. Not to brag but Im 6.3. Unhealthy, yea, but my abs look great.
You should start to see your abs around 10% bodyfat. Going lower is what makes them more defined and what gives you a 6 pack. Going lower than that will reveal your other pair of abs. However, the downside, is that your overall performance will suffer as a result.
I concur. It takes a long time to get really cut, defined lower abs. I've worked my balls off and you can barely see them.... But situps alone apparently aren't what brings them out! It's general core/stability training combined with your hard cardio... I've been trying to use the wheel lately (That thing where you have to lower/raise yourself), ****ing ******* contraption! I can do situps, crunches, toe touches all day, a couple of reps on this thing almost gave me a nose bleed... Not tryin to advertise this dude or his site, but take a look at what I mean... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdthWDUEKtY
