Could Tyson have neutalized 70's Ali's jab??

No one neutralizes Ali's jab. I think Tyson would have more success against it than pretty much everyone Ali fought, but it certainly be landing and scoring points.

Ali would have jabbed his ass to death. Not with his left jab, but with his mouth. Tyson had emotional and psychological problems, and Ali was the King of getting inside a fighters head. Can you imagine the build up. Can you imagine Ali ****ing with Tyson mid round, telling him that nobody likes him, and that he cannot punch? Tyson would probably have an emotional meltdown in the ring.

 

he wasnt as weak minded as you think. Some of his opponents like Bonecrusher Smith, Biggs and others tried taunting him, and they got a mouthful of leather.

Tyson was incredibly motivated and disciplined back then - he wasn't the same guy who bit holyfield in 96' and had mental breakdowns late in his career.

With that said, Tyson basically never had problems with jabs until Douglas, when he was on the downslide.

Good example of Tyson dealing with Ali-type fighters is Tyson vs. holmes and Biggs. Tyson demolished both of these guys, and basically neutralized their jabs. That's not to say their in the same league as Ali, but I think a peak Tyson could have most definitely beaten a 70's Ali. 60's Ali is up the air for me.

 

Tyson was Frazier times 10. He would ko Ali. He had fast hands, and power.

 

A young prime Tyson would have taken a prime Ali. He would have walked thru it and charged Ali, which Tyson was noted for anyway. Ali would not have been able to hold him off. If Ali would try to dance, Tyson would chase him down. Iron Mike threw lots of punches from different angles, which Ali would not be able to avoid.

 

With Cus in his corner, I could see Mike giving Muhammad some problems here and there.But Ali would still win.

 

And Ali would have stopped him in the latter stages.

 

What im saying .
Douglas had an uppercut Ali was 1 dimensional .
Ali could only retreat backwards and we know what Tyson did 2 Holmes .
And Holmes was not shot vs Tyson even if not prime . Holmes was as good (bad) as Ali was .

 

Ali's movement would give Tyson more problems than his jab. Tyson was very good at avoiding punches.

 

Tyson would be unable to deal with Alis speed, movement and general ring IQ. At the very bottom of it Tyson was terrible one-dimensional and tried the same move forward attack over and over and over again. Until he ran out of gas. He looked great when dumbass opponents did nothing and simple stuck out an extended arm into his face hoping that would keep Tyson from coming forward.

Ali would completely take apart prime Tyson in a one-sided boxing-school lesson.

 

Did you see Holmes jab vs. Tyson? He didn't throw it. He extended his arm out trying to keep Tyson off of him, there was no jab throwing at all. Also Holmes was flat-footed like a statue.

Holmes fought NOTHING like prime Ali.

 

I think tyson becomes quite easy to time with punches after a round or 2 and thats why he packs up and tries to look for the big shot and wrestles. Cant see Ali struggling to find his face after a round to be honest

 

i watched it only twice and not recently .
i remember that holmes did dance in that fight even if not in its entirety .
Holmes fought a lot like prime ali and if he didn't in some parts of that fight it because tyson didn't let him and wouldn't let ali either .

 

If Holmes tried 2 imitate prime Ali vs tyson then he would have ended like carl williams .
