Well if a lot of Hatton's fans are new to the game then so be it, everyone has a boxer who got them into the sport as im sure you have aswell.

Personally i watched my 1st ever fight in 1985 and was instantly hooked, if Hatton has had that effect on a lot of fans then surely that is a good thing?

I think most of his fans even recognise he is flawed technically but he is good to watch and explains why he has such a large following.

 

well i've said before if hatton was scottish the scottish boys would be singing his praises,instead quite a few of them praise alex arthur!now i think this is basically a 50/50 fight it would not surprise me at all if hatton come unstuck although i suspect he will scrape through.

 

If Hatton was Scottish he would getting even more stick on the board than he currently is :fire

You should note that a lot of you English guys are slating him aswell!!

Ron Ron Ron... You dont understand, Much to my dismay mate, scottish fight fans LOVE Hatton. You look at the forums, all the scottish fans except me & Sucka rate him highly, & many are full blooded Hatton fans. In fact, one of my closest allies on here, young MIK1000 is a mad hatton fan, & so is his father. I havent disowned him for it, but please, dont think cos me & Sucka dont like Hatton that we represent the general scottish opinion, far from it.

Man, I have been at some Harrison fights in the past in Scotland, & there are many conversations I heard about Hatton, & every **** seemed to love him, much to my dismay.

I hate Hatton, Sucka hates Hatton, but we are hardly the official voice of scottish boxing. Trust me mate, Hatton is adored north of the border.

In fact, ask most scottish posters if they like Hatton & they will say yes. I should know, cos I have been trying to get them to hate him like I do for years, without success...

 

Why hate Hatton so much? Is because the hype?

You hate him for a load of things that you imagine to be the case even though people who have met him and know where he lives and where he goes out etc tell you that you are mistaken in thinking it is all a false "one of the lads" act.

Actions speak louder than words, and you cannot escape the cold facts that he lives where he does, that he took his friends from years back on holiday and that he is still a regular in his local pub.
Nor can you change the fact that all of your "it is an act" stuff is based on nothing but promotional interviews for his fights where he talks in the third person. You don't have even one anecdotal claim of him being arrogant or aloof towards a member of the public.

well as for hatton being one of the lads.about 3 or 4 months ago he came to a talk in in sunderland which was packed to the rafters.before he spoke he sat on the top table and scores of lads and lasses came up to him including my son and his mate and asked if they could take pictures of him on their mobiles,he responded yes no bother.for the next i don't know how many minutes he sat there relaxed and let a consant procession of people come past him and take photos no problem.this was a thing at an earlier function sugar ray leonard didn't let happen.after that hatton got up and did his talk and for an hour or so without notes he captivated the audience with his anecdotes about his career and the fight game and in all this he was very self effacing.at the end of the night he sat in a side room and let a constant procession of about 200 people come past him and have official photo's took of him and that particular person,without ever showing any signs of a "big time charlie" routine he was patience personified.all he did was live up to his reputation of being "one of the lads".he was a credit to himself,his family,and the fight game.now i don't know wether ricky hatton is going to win tonight,but win or lose as far as this poster is concerned he is one of the most genuine young men ever to lace on a pair of boxing gloves.i'm proud he's a brit.

I've been to a few Hatton fights at the MEN and usually make a day of it around the pubs in Manchester. I've bumped into and got talking to quite a few locals who claim to know him, not one has had a bad word to say....
