hank, can you tell about all the stories above, for real i'd like to hear them, i bought this book as well, i'm confused on teddy's character, i dont know what to believe but i'm leaning more towards him as a negative character, i've never come in contact with anyone who has something good to say bout him, atlas always talks about honor this high moral character but i always hear total scumbag stories on him lol he seems like a total jerkoff

Atlas is a guy of extremes, both good and bad. He spouts high and heavy but doesn't exactly hold back when talking about his dark side either. I liked the book. It had a good message about character.

Teddy Atlas is quite possibly the most overrated trainer in the history of the sport.

"Bu, bu, but he's such a great motivator for head-cases, he willed Michael Moorer to the title!"

Well,Salazar was guy who had press conference fight with him at Holyfield Moorer rematch. Salazar was working as reporter for Spanish news. There was clip shown of him and Atlas on floor wrestling, and Moorer picking Atlas up--like a baby--and putting him on other side of railing.
Back around 1990 Salazar was suposed to go into golden gloves, and Atlas sent him for weigh in--on the wrong day! Atlas blamed everyone buy himself. Year later, in othe rbig amateur tournement, Salazar made finals at 132, Atlas had to go to Canada for Donny La Londe vs. a walking corpse.
Joe Baffi filled in, and wanted to cancel match. Ricky had burnt part of arm and a leg from splattered grease while cooking, and had slieght fever. Salazar insisted on fighting, lost decision. When Atla sheard about loss he blamed Salazar ( "No guts, no charactor") Baffi ("If I was there Ricardo would have won") and the ref. No one ever figured why he blamed ref. Salazar and Atlas split, it was one of only times Atlas dumped fighter. Teddy was getting some good offers, and Salazar was not going to be as good as they hoped. In pros Salazar had club fight career. He suffered double fracture of cheekbone in one of first fights, came back from that and fought again a few times.

Roosevelt (Robbie ) Williams I pretty much explained, no details of signifcance to add.

Why?? Every fighter he had hates him, he always gets fired or into fights with his boxers, and he's never had any success, except for Moorer, who was already at best from years with Steward. He wanted to shoot LaLOnde, and attacked Kirk Johnson with a group of four goons after getting fired.

Aside from that, he's great to box for, give him a call.

Shannon Briggs seems to like Teddy, at least publically he says he does.

True, I always wonder about that. Elvir Murqui supposedly does not like Teddy, but won't say anything, even to his friends. They had a bad split, but both don't talk about it.

I don't know if I'd hold that against him. Mike Tyson was not your average 15 year old. He was basically a 200 pound trained killing machine.
