Good post. Pac is not a fighter who fights inside. Like ali, and Jones, he is relying on his speed. When guys get close to PAc, he clinches which is smart. PAc goes toe to toe, but not on the inside. Pac's bravado has been his gift so far, and has not been his curse.
That was probably more to do with Floyd already being a welterweight. Oscar would've wanted some kind of advantage to make up for his age. Pacquiao is a lightweight, so he was more willing to compromise with the weight.
That's not a bad weight after an intense training day. Pacquiao is not a welterweight. I though we knew that...
This is like an old time fight where if you was the WW king you would fight the MW king etc. Old time stuff Pac has no business at 147, but I am cheerign for him. Hes gonna get KO'd
Exactly, PAc is not a ww. He isn't going to grow into one either. The thrill of the fight is PAc being the naturally smaller fighter taking on a bigger man. Sugar Leonard weighed in at 159 against Hagler and lost 13 lbs when he fought Hagler. He measured in a bit taller than Hagler, and was around Hagler's size, and you still saw the size difference. Hagler looked thicker and more muscular than Sugar.
i think the botton line is pac will lose this one either by decision of by ko. i like pac, but what the heck is he doing fighting a 154 pounder. he'll earn his money's worth though. i'd be cheering for pac but i wont be betting on him. in times of crisis, i guess we got to go for the good investments.
Anywhere from 140 to 145 would be a suitable weight for Pac to take on DLH....... We'll probably wont know what the fighters weigh fighttime, because DLH has refused to weigh in for that for several years. I got a feeling Pac wont weighin prefight this time. In any regards, Pac imo should keep his weight under the welterweight limit during the fight.......he's going to need all the speed and quickness to dart in and out, and even do some running in stretches to avoid DLH. Pac's mindset for the fight should be, I'm the boxer, DLH is the destroyer.......a complete 360 degree from what he's used too. .....but its the only way I see Pac being competitive. If Pac comes in light, that enhances his chances imo.
hes gonna have the same amount of power whether he weighs 140 or 147 not a big deal you can only get so strong in a few months of training atsch
Pacquiao is a pretty muscular guy already. He won't put on 12 pound of muscle in a few months.(may be with some illegal substance). The other options is more fat or fluid. But he doesn't any of them. He needs to come quick and able to throw tons of punches. So, its ok if he shows up at around 144 to the weight in. Remember, boxers used to be weight the they of the fight.
