    Great matchup this one.

It's a tough call but as Benn is naturally bigger and could show some recuperative powers I'll favour him by a 5th round KO.It was usually skillful fighters with good chins and/or defenses that troubled Nigel most and Julian despite having decent skills was always there to be hit and could be hurt.

I was always more impressed with Jackson's body of work at 154 than at middleweight, which is not to say that Julian isn't still a big threat to knock Benn out. It's just that in a shoot-out such as this I'll lean towards Benn to survive some scary moments and prevail in a war.

a prime benn in my opinion was a SMW and a prime jackson was a LMW so its hard to judge really. i am of the opinion that without his sledgehammers jackson is slightly over-rated and i also think benn at his best is under-rated by those not in the know.

benn was only ever beaten by boxers ,at least before he dipped. anyone going for a war with him was usually blasted out.

As much as I love Jackson and those fantastic one shot ko's of his, Benn gets my eternal respect for his Dempsey-like comeback from being knocked out of the ring to persevere against McClellan in their epic battle. Benn would come out on top in this one, by a mid-rounds ko.

Benn was probably not at his very best at MW either, and was lacking the craft he'd later gain once he refined his style. He was more or less just a fast paced brawler/puncher, while Jackson was the better technician. Benn does have the better recuperative skills though, which could come into effect if hurt. Not sure he could take Jackson's shots well enough to be able to recuperate in the first place though. Basically a 50/50 fight.

i think benn would have had a bit too much guts for jackson and would have forced a late stoppage

    cracking fight though

I see Jackson having Benn all over the place early. jackson, a great finisher, goes in for the kill.....that's when Benn's at his most dangerous, and he rallies to stop Jackson.

I say this happens within the first three rounds!

Benn's strength, size and conditioning would be the difference in this 1

I liked both fighters. I think Jackson had too many skills for Nigel. But an interesting match up.

really i think benn has a far better skill set than jackson.

jackson seemed to hold himself right but didnt really box or counter it was just left hook followed by a right hand.

i think benn outboxes him to be honest dropping him in the process to a tko

    :thinkanyone agree?

Benn at MW was no boxer. Jackson was the much more technicals sound fighter. Tighter guard, crisper, more textbook punches. He showed a solid jab to go along with the crushing right hands and left hooks as well, was good at setting up as long as the opponent was within range, which Benn would be.

As a matter of fact, I'll favor Jackson by KO mid-rounds.

I see it as more of a war or attrition with defense going out the window to an extent. I say a war just suit Benn so well at this weight
