Why oh why take this fight Tito. These two are some of my favorite fighters ever and its going to be very, very sad to watch Tito get embarassed by RJJ. I cant believe I see Tito fans saying he will beat RJJ. Look at this objectively: Size- RJJ Speed- RJJ Power- RJJ Chin- Even (Roy has no chin, but Tito has little chin and hasnt faced a hitter like Roy) Defense- RJJ (by way of an offense Tito can not defend against) Ring Activity- RJJ (true he is fighting bums, but Tito is fighting nobody) On top of all of this, Tito is making a comeback after after a layoff, with NO TUNE UPS, against a guy who has more natural speed and athleticism than anyone he has faced in his career- even at Roys age he can still throw a mean combination, just see his last fight. Tito is going to be slow, non reactive, and stuck on stupid from the opening bell. I dont want this fight for him. :-(
Tito can still throw a mean lefthook and Roy isnt as fast as he once was. If Tito can land it, he has a shot, Jones, to me, is still a little shaky.
Tito has also been floored by fighters like Vargas and B Hop, neither of which hit like RJJ does (not in power, combination, or unorthodox angles). What makes you think that Tito´s chin is going to hold up to that?
If the fight actually takes place, at 170 lbs at it has said to have been, then I pick Trinidad via not-being-half-dead-from-making-weight.
I would rather a RJJ who has been semi-active come down to 170lbs than a lazy, fat, Trinidad who took the fight at 170lbs so that he didnt have to train. If you thought Winky looked bad recently (meaning fat and slow), your going to be shocked at how Tito performs.
I liked Hopkins' statements in regards to a rematch with Tito, something along the lines of "Do I look like I'm in the business of murdering people?"
I'd be surprise if this fight last longer then a minute. That's if Jones doesn't decide to showboat for 12 rounds of course.
I think if he start reading all the post he could find a way out no counting his fellow Puerto Rican sure Oscar can influence too it's sad to see his legacy wasted.
