Hearns by KO or stoppage. I don't see how the refs would let this thing go the whole distance. Margo takes way too much punishment to last the distance.

Lets the margo fans face it...He doesnt look good against fighters his own size or bigger...He couldnt knock out Williams or Santos, and there is a reason why hes still at 147...His so called "iron chin" wouldnt hold up in the higher weightclasses...I posted this to spark a debate...And this is my opinion on it...

There is no way Margarito could win a war with Hearns. Hearns is much faster, has better technique and would land 2-3 hard punches to Margo's one. The style matchup is just too bad for Tony. It would get stopped.

Sure, but stylistically Margarito gets bombed on by Hearns for as long as the fight lasts. Doesn't take old-timer nostalgic bias to make that call.

If Hearns is able to get to Tonys body, then he can stop him...If not then a UD to MD for Hearns. Lets not forget that he dose fade in fights and Margo will keep him moving.

First of all this is at Welterweight. Second of all, and I shouldn't need to say this, Margarito is no Hagler....

It can be argued that Hearns is in the top 3 for best WW of all time, and arguably a top 10 best fighter of all time. It took a truly elite fighter to beat a prime Hearns. While Margo is very good, he hasn't shown himself to be an elite fighter. There are so many way that Hearns could be Margo, and only one way Tony can beat Hearns. Hearns outboxed Wilfred Benitez with a broken hand. I would be hardpressed to say he could do the same to Margo with two good hands.

Hearns would totally spark him. Margarito is a slow starter and he'd be coming up against one of the most dangerous front runners in history. The only way your surviving Hearns' offense at 147 is if you have a great chin and great defense. Margarito severely lacks the later. People also seem to forget how good a body punchers Hearns was, his left hook to the body was one of the most brutal I've ever seen. He is just a totally different class of fighter, he stops Margarito in the Mid-rounds.

:goodi agree. Hearns the superior boxer and puncher, i think tommy would of had better chances of stopping margo on cuts or the ref stopping in on margo taking too much punishment. I think tommy's prime is actually 154, where he lost to no one. no, margo is not hagler, but he's close. i think the more a fighter opens up vs. margo, margo opens up as well. it would of have been an intriguing fight at 147. at 154 it's tommy no doubt, but if a smaller fighter like leonard came back and stopped hearns later in the fight, i don't see why margo wouldn't do the same at 147. i still think hearns wins a close one at 147, and a clearer win at 154, but by decisions. there were lesser fighters than margo that went the distance with hearns and i think margo's chin is exceptional

When Hearns fought at 147lbs it was the days of the same day weight in. If that Hearns fought the current day Margarito I would have to give Margarito a chance of pulling off the upset win. I don't think that Hearns at 147lbs would KO Margarito but he could definitely outbox him.

However if Hearns can weight in the day before, like Margarito does nowdays, and Hearns also weighed about 160lbs coming into the fight I would have to pick Hearns to KO Margarito.

But from a Devil's Advocate point of view, Hagler (concrete chin) wasn't the only 160lb guy to survive Hearns's power, Barkley managed to survive an onslaught from a 160lbs Hearns and KO him in their first fight against all odds, so............

I'd have to pick Hearns but I don't think it is as clear cut as many people do.

I'm a MARG fan too but imo Hearns is simply too strong for Marg.

One this is for sure Marg will have a better fight than what duran can shown with his fight with Hearns.
