Hmmm, the Lewis that beat Ruddock was not dissimilar in style and effect to some of Hearns performances - which is impressive coming from such a big man. But, I think Hearns had more of those performance, climbing up a number of weight categories, and devoured the greater opposition. When it comes to the crunch Lewis has no answer for Hearns beautiful wins over Cuevas and Duran.
Hearns had the better opponents.Tommy went 2-2-1 against all time greats Leonard, Duran, Benitez, Hagler.Lewis had much less awesome opponents in comparison.
Lewis at first thought - He was a greater heavyweight than Hearns was any of his weights. I don't buy the ridiculous argument that putting on weight automatically makes you better "pound for pound" than fighters who can't move up in weight-class. I view "pound for pound" as "overall" As Muhammad Ali put it, "if Fighter X was a heavyweight, how good would he be?" But I may have to think about this one a little more, both are a long way off the top10 in my book.
