I thought that Duran, never known as having a supreme jab, was extemely adept at rendering a good jab useless by using all of the defenses you mentioned. He had to, his short stature and style brought him to disdain the jab as an unnecessary distraction.

 

Whitaker, in his heyday, rendered every jab useless.

One that would never be thought of is Hearn's taking away Leonard's jab. Think about it, Leonard had quite a decent jab but against Hearn's height, reach, speed, right hand threat and superb jab it was almost non existent compared to other bouts. Leonard also did a fair job keeping Hagler's normally excellent jab below par, tho not nullified.

It would seem no one had a answer for that left jab of Ross's??? Come in Henry Armstrong, Ross control the first 3 rounds of the fight with his left jab. But as the rounds wore on, Ross was missing his mark with the left jab more and more. Armstrong's head movement was good to make Ross miss, and than counter Ross with body head shots. By the ten round Ross was on the ropes takeing a beating. And by the 15round, Armstrong was over whelming Ross to head and body, the jab was no longer a factor. Armstrong took Ross's main weapon away with his shoulder and head movement, the left jab.

that jab was brutal lewis couldnt get by it so he had to be a fighter and actually have to beat him by being more fluid great pick.

toney i would say nullified every jab if you jabbed aggresively he would land a right hand and move back into position to use it again this happend for charles williams,barkely,nunn,holyfield every jab was an opening...similar to schmelling louis in which every jab joe through max landed a right cross
