Congrats on a great show with great home-grown talent last night. A top promoter and after all the sh*t he has had with pull outs and im chuffed it's all came together at last. Unlike some other promoters out there............:yep
Yeah, for proper titles as well. I would still like to see less English title fights - more British and European ones, but other than that, top show. They completely pissed all over Sky - the card here was ****, Macca blasting out a last minute replacement, Khan beating a poor ***an and Audley losing to a cab driver followed by the most tedious of 4, 6 & 8 round supporting acts.
The English title fights were very good and I can see that belt becoming more inportant over the net year with SN needing Brit belts for his Sky shows and that fact he likes to keep his bills in house. The shite singers need shooting though, very bad idea.
Defintly on this bandwagon. Hennesy are credit to British boxing and many of there fighters tread the same tried and tested traditional route. ITV`s show was fantastic and pissed all over SKY`s PPV. That show was nothing more than a decent bill at York Hall. Great results for Khan and Mac but it surely wasnt worthy of a PPV by a long chalk.
I have been a big critic of Hennessy in the past, with the costant bullshitting and guys seemingly being fed last minute opponents on too regular a basis. But, credit where credit is due - he has certainly nailed it here, getting REAL fights for REAL titles. Froch vs Pascal is what people want to see, not Audley Harrison making a fool of himself or Amir Khan for an intergalactic title. Hopefully ITV will persevere - would be interesting to find out the ratings.
Sky's bill went awfully. Was there even a competetive fight on that bill? I havn't seen Rogan-Harrison yet so I don't know about that. Macca blasts out short noticeEllis and knocks him down countless times with bodyshots Khan easily beats an E grade fighter Then we get to the US where we might be expecting some decent action... Jacobs throws a million punche to only 3 returned against journeyman Lopez scores another early KO against overmatched opponent Ortiz destroys journeyman Pacquiao wins every round and forces Hoya to quit...which was at least satisfying.
I don't recall seeing a competitive fight - the four rounders at the end were shocking. M'Baye was probably involved in the most competitive fight, but that was ****. The Yanks make me laugh saying bring on Vazquez for Lopez - he would get his ass whipped.
Ive slagged of fat Mick in the past but he pissed all over Warren yesterday, ****in drenched him! It has been hard going for Frank Warren recently not having none of the big 3 in his stable (Joe, Ricky, David), its even worse now they have all started promotional companies themselves and with his next best ticket sellers in Khan, Enzo and Arthur all losing it didnt look good. In fact if Warren didnt secure the 3 Olympians, Sports Network couldve been on the way to be extinct! As for Froch, he took his time but proved his worth.
I don't know about that. They probably just want to see the fight, it would be excellent. Vasquez is more or less half American, so there isn't any bias there. I'm with Lopez.
It must be a first that none of the top 5 P4P best in the UK are with Warren Calzaghe, Hatton, Haye, Froch and Witter!
Good shout. Screw the bug eyed ******* if you ask me. He can promote his selfish bunch of amateurs like degale and the coca-cola loving Frankie Gavin in timbuktoo for all i care. Degale hung himself in my eyes by declaring his money demands - now he is hung drawn and quarted signing with that lot.
I wouldn't rely on him being shot, but they could be a factor. It does seem like the rising star against the war torn vet. I like what Lopez is doing in there. He fights technically well, but the leverage and correctness to his punches is impressive. I think Vasquez would have a lot more trouble dealing the southpaw element with his come forward style having fought Marquez who is extremely orthodox and technically correct. He then has to find a whole new rhythm and deal with different angles to apply his style on Lopez. Vasquez would take some punishement and get knocked out in 6 rounds.
