I began following the Golden Boy from the very start of his career and while i briefly hated him for destroying Chavez, I was soon a fan again. I also congratulate Manny in his victory as he performed amazing and deserves so much credit. I remember feeling like this after Oscar took apart Chavez and now, Oscar shares the same podium. Manny will fall one day as well and the cycle will continue. We should not be sad that they fell but be happy they earned a significant amount of money and success while giving us many happy moments in our lives.

Bit by bit, torn apart, we never win but the battle wages on for toy soldiers.

To the critics, if you have not stepped in the ring and competed in this harsh sport and I mean actual competition, you should not be calling those who put their life on the line as entertainment as quitters. Doing such makes you losers. Think before you post.

There's much about him to criticize but he was one of the best in our generation even in fights he lost. I hope he wins one more time before calling it quits. He deserves it.

Thanks for always taking on the best the sport had to offer. If the rest of the sport followed your lead we would truly have a Golden Age upon us.

    Thank you Oscar.

First saw the guy fight in Barcelona. There was something great about him. I followed his career since then. Yeah, its weird that torch has passed on just as Hoya took it from Chavez now Pac took it from Hoya. Hoya was the best for me;his style, his speed, his combos, his power, all of it equalled the type of fighter I generally like. There were things Hoya lacked, stamina mostly in his post welterweight days, but part of the reason I always liked him was that he was a vulnerable warrior which meant the fight could always swing the other way. I really don't see Hoya having any more fights. Even one more fight might be disastrous. Maybe he knew something we didn't about Pac. He probablly knew he couldn't take Marg anymore and choose Pac but maybe he was honest when he said he was worried about Pac.

    Who knows.
    Here's to the old champ:cheers

If Tyson was the moon in our beloved sport, then Oscar was the sun. He shone a bright and positive presence and whether the Mexican nationals agree or not, he carried the torch post Chavez for us AND was a crossover star on top of it. He made our sport relevant and I am proud that Manny was showcased in the Nike commercial. He may just be the Filipino answer to Oscar and I am impressed by how well his English has come along.

This thread is more like it. The man was fantastic for the sport and will always be remembered. No need to kick him when he's down.

:patschYes, it's used but it is also in a old childrens tale and is relevant due to...have you ever boxed and competed? If so, you should know then. Lets not hijack the thread please and lets keep it positive. Thank you.:good
