What was more impressive? Jones-Ruiz or Pac-DeLaHoya?

In each case, we have a fighter looking to cement his status as the top P4P fighter in the world in one shot, by going way up in weight and beating a much bigger man in a much ballyhooed fight. But which one was more impressive?

In Roy's case, you have a guy who won his first title at 160 and spent most of his career at 175, moving up to fight basically an average fighter, but with a title at stake and something like a 20-30 pound weight disparity. Roy came in as about a 2-1 favorite as I recall.

Pacquiao, who won his first title all the way down somewhere around flyweight and has only just moved to 135, now moves up yet more to take on HOFer and living legend DeLaHoya, who is acknowledged to be past his prime but still considered a very live opponent. DeLaHoya has lost by close split decision to Mayweather only a year before. Hoya is considered the favorite.

Jones tees off on Ruiz for 12 rounds to earn a clear decision, Pacquiao outboxes Hoya and then makes him quit on his stool. Ruiz had never before been beaten so decisively in a fight that went the distance, while Hoya has never been beaten do decisively period.

Which is the greater feat in your opinion?

lol I don't know about that, Ruiz is a total scrub. There's a reason why Jones took Ruiz. he was the easiest road to a heavyweight title hence the reason why he did not remain in the division. Oscar while old would still put up a good fight against other fighter who do not possess Pacquiao speed.

Ruiz was a scrub. Toney did the exact same thing two years later. The Pacquiao win was in dominating fashion, a stoppage and againt a much higher caliber fighter.

Toney fit heavy weight better than Jones. Also, Jones beat Ruiz easier than Toney did. But on the other hand, I expected Roy to beat Ruiz. This is totally unexpected

    Jones of course.

Ruiz was a champ and was not shot nor drained.

Ruiz and champ do NOT belong in the same sentence. Jones was expected by most to win while most were expecting Oscar to beat Manny. Like I said earlier, Toney did the same thing two years later. Toney fought at 160 as did Jones. Jones cherry picking Ruiz was not impressive. I don't even think its' that great of a stretch to say Chad Dawson or Tarver could beat Ruiz.

Jones was the older fighter and was greatly the smaller man. Who beat a guy who had like 30lbs on him and was around his peak.

Manny somehow outweighed Oscar on fight night, Oscar had clearly seen better days, he couldnt let his hands go.

Put it this way there were

heavyweights who could at the time could beat John Ruiz than there are Welterweights now who would beat Oscar De La Hoya

Dawson and Tarver could beat Ruiz. Didn't David Haye also at one point have a stint at light heavy? He would also beat Ruiz.
