I would of liked to see a Hopkin tito rematch in 2002. I still think that tito had a good chance of winning The first fight wasn't the walkover people said it was. trinidad was always in it until about the 11th round but hopkins fought great on the night. he never did any of tyhe fouling that he was known for in recent fights. he boxed lovely. But i still question whther he could of repeated that performance in the rematch Look at the recent marquez vasquez fights. first time around Marquez well had the measure of vasquez. Few people thought that israel could of won second time around. look what happened there
Hopkins dominated Tito the first time and a 42 year old Hops could do it again. Whats happened recently to show otherwise?
First, I don't see why you would believe Trinidad had any chance in a rematch. Explain that statement. Secondly, yes, the first fight was a masterclass exhibition where Hopkins came out to show that he was the best. He was fully motivated and ready to go to war. Trinidad was destroyed. What does the fouling have to do with anything if you're saying it didn't happen? Marquez vs. Vasquez has nothing to do with this. Your logic is... dubious at best.
:good This guy is just gonna suck up another HBO date and take another shiit in the ring. God I hope he retires soon.
bro did you see the fight?? Tito was outclassed from bell to bell...Hopkins put on a boxing clinic, was one of his best performances....gave angles, jabbed great...hit and moved...Tito didnt know what to do....Hopkins dominated more nad more as the fight progressed eventually Koing him....if the fight was close, it would not have been stopped...Tito got up, his daddy stopped it i think. because he was getting a beating towards the end...and schooled throughout..
As a Hopkins fan, I would have to say that a rematch would have gone the way of the first fight. The Vasquez/Marquez fight is not a good comparison, because Vasquez knocked Marquez down in the first fight and had his moments. I don't think Tito ever had Hops off balance, much less stung, in their fight.
YES the 1st fight was a walk over. I had Hopkins up 10 rounds to 1 going into the 12th. Trinidad was always in it until about the 11? If you call coming forward and constantly getting tagged 'in it' then yeah i guess he was. Maybe you were paying too much attention to George Foremans nuthugging commentary. Trinidad was outclassed and will ALWAYS be outclassed by Hopkins. For Trinidads sake he should avoid this fight. Trinidad has no contingency plan to deal with Hopkins style and at this stage of his career I feel it's too late to develop an effective style.
