Fresh off of making comments pointing out that his charge Manny Pacquiao knocked out Oscar De La Hoya whereas Floyd Mayweather, Jr. "struggled against Oscar" in Floyd's split-decision win over The Golden Boy:

...Manny Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach has come out with another statement aimed at the former pound-for-pound king:

Roach has mentioned both Ring Magazine 140 pound champion Ricky Hatton and Mayweather, Jr. as possible next opponents for Pacquiao.

    Yep, I heard this.

I think Freddie & his own ego has finally put an end to the Pacman express... Mayweather should be a bridge too far for Pacquiao, I dont see Pacman winning this one.

I pick Floyd in this matchup as well, though nothing Pac accomplishes at this point would surprise me.

You can't blame Roach. Obviously, he loves a challenge, has tremendous faith in Manny's abilities, predicted the DLH fight to a tee, and realizes that a victory over Mayweather would be the victory of a lifetime. Pac would be hall of fame immediately, if he isn't already. Plus, he's a great promoter, in his own way. It's a great way to lure Floyd out of partytown retirement.

Unlike Oscar, Floyd would actually fight back. Freddy should just be content with the Hatton fight for now, because it's going to be huge.

When DLH vs Pac was first announced everyone said the same thing. And look what happened. I understand that Mayweather is leaps and bounds ahead of DLH at this stage, however, Floyd hasn't always had his way with southpaws. Look at the trouble that he had with Judah. Pacquiao, has twice as much heart as Judah and has better lateral movement which is the only way to get around that amazing Mayweather defense.

Hatton would give him a much tougher fight due to his aggressiveness.

I was watching the Pac-ODLH fight again last night and it is amazing how well and rapidly Pac bounces around on his toes both side to side and backwards and forwards. And all of that while weighing a career-high 148.5 pounds or whatever. His quickness is extraordinary.

please...... hattons come-forward style is taylor made for pac. floyd would give manny fits b/c of his defense, quickness & counters. i definetly see floyds pot-shots landing & stunning pac throughout the fight. pac stops Hatton in dramatic fashion no matter where the fight takes place.

I like Freddie Roach, he knows what he's doing and how to provoke Mayweather into a fight.

Floyd vs. the Pacman was always the intention.

PBF was probably watching Cotto vs Margarito on TV at home thinking "damn i'm glad I am retired and don't have to fight either of those guys" (that doesn't mean i don't think he could beat either or both of them). Now Floyd watched Manny vs Oscar and thought "wow I can fight this tiny guy for a ton of money and with no risk of losing or getting hurt." Its an ideal position for Floyd as he can now come back and once again duck the real risks like Cotta or Antonio and fight the best pound for pound fighter in the world and claim he is the best.

Oscar threw that fight. It wasn't fun to watch and I put money on Pacman because I knew Oscar wasn't going to fight back. I don't think Manny or Freddie knew or know that the fight was fixed but Oscar is now focussing on promoting and I promise Golden Boy will be present when Floyd and Manny fight.

Agreed, he really came into his own as a smack-talker and compelling figure during the 24/7 series for Pac-Oscar. He was forced to play the 'bad guy' with ODLH and Pac both being nicer, and he did it well and doesn't seem to want to put down the microphone anytime soon.

    Good for boxing. :good

:happy I could not agree more. This is, to borrow from The Sugar Hill Gang, a "Cherrypicker's Delight" that is perfect for PBF just for the reasons you give. Floyd is shrewd, and he knows it won't get any better than this: Come back and beat the smaller P4P king and have everyone forget about your not wanting to face Margarito or Williams.

I think Oscar was overtrained for the fight, and had nothing. There is no way he would have let himself be beaten in the way that he was even if he were to throw the fight (which I don't think he did). That was as embarrassing a loss as you could possibly have, and ODLH is way too proud to agree to have that happen to him willingly.
