Against Pukall , after 3 rounds he showed flashes of class, he is from an amazing era , and if he drops some considerable weight he is always entertaining to watch.. Moved very nimbly for his weight........... Riddick is a great fighter... and he shows his class.. Bowe has more natural ability in his little finger , than most of these prospects we see today. Overpaid for not providing the goods.. Good for Bowe..
because anybody that can weigh in is aloud to fight in the heavyweight division today.. eat a hundred big macs and you have the chance to fight in a title fight against the klitschkos! pukall was down three times and stopped in the first round against Robert Helenius (Helenius debut).. Bowe went the distance :-(
I don't like to see great fighters from the past who try to show us flashes of the greatness they posessed get dissed so easily as if they never were anything.. Riddick has the kind of tools that cant be taught.. they are natural talent and still manifest when men like Riddick exhibit for our entertainment.........
if he passes the physical requirements.... no reason why he cant fight.... you cant deny him a right to earn because you think he has brain damage.....
Unfortunately whilst he showed glimpses of his former class, he also showed a worrying inability to avoid punches that were telegraphed and even be wobbled by a fighter who wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds with him in his prime. His power was not really there either. I would imagine he has blown all of his cash and is now fighting because it is all he knows, makes you realise just how well Lennox did to get out and resist the temptation to come back. One of my biggest regrets is that Riddick and Lennox never fought in the pros. I think that would have been a great fight.
yes...and as an american...its no secret bowe wanted nothing to do with lennox....he was scheduled to fight him after the final 4 type tournament they had....and dropped his belt rather than face lennox....it ws more important for him to fight dokes and Ferguson
Yeah I must admit I never understood that business of Ridick dumping the WBC belt in the bin. Must have still had the thought of the Olympic final from 1988 in his head when he was stopped by Lennox, despite claiming he wasn't hurt. Ridick was still a very good fighter but underachieved on what he should have.
