What does Adamek's recent win say about Briggs?

Adamek's win over cunningham was very impressive-dropping the so called lineal champion three times during the fight and winning a title in a second weight class....
Briggs gave him two tough fights-winning the second in my opinion-knocking him down in the second fight n having him out on his feet in their first encounter-and not being dropped or wobbled by the polish pummler

i think it is a real shame that briggs had to retire-because in those adamek fights he showed that he was a real gutsy ******* as well as a fighter that could mingle the elite level of fighters

i've said it before n i'll say it again..i miss briggsy!

    thoughts?

Briggs was finished, I seen one of his last sparring sessions, all the years of fighting just took there toll, kick boxing and boxing.

It says that Briggs isn't the 2 dimensional puncher that many labelled him as, and that although he got beat by Adamek, he was still very capable of being a title holder.
Briggs V Woods would have been a great fight to see. A very winnable fight too.

Briggs was a very good fighter and would have given Clinton fits , Woods would have had his moments but i see Briggs as a clear winner in the end .

Having an early career defeat and two M/D losses to Tomasz Adamek indicates that Briggs could hang with the best there is , im a fan of Clinton Woods but reckon there was a window when Briggs would have edged him out ,it was about the same time as Clinton was being taken almost the distance by that Delesie kid , Briggs = Class ,Pity to see him finish but it sounds like it is all over for him .a real fight that would have been a decent scrap would have been v Johnson :deal

IMO it shows that Briggs was pretty good.

I mean look At Briggs fights up until the Adamek one's.
He Defeated Drews, etc. and fights a stud for the world title.

While green wins a "world title" defeating Drews.

Imo it sucks Green wins a title for a win over drews but briggs did not.

In some ways Paul Briggs career was a bit like Danny Green's but didn't end in a world title. Both short careers in terms of fights but had some defining bouts.

He's a gun commentator now and looks like he never even boxed, haha

Especially seeing how Briggs fought a better and more willing Drews.

Still, thats life. Some get lucky, some don't.

Exactly. Dawson totally outboxed Adamek and has had a couple of good wins since.

And knocked Drews down about 5 times! whereas Green, by contrast, barely landed cleanly on an admittedly disinterested Drews.

Real shame Briggs didn't/couldn't have got a crack at Green for that WBA title.

Adamek hs proven to be an elite fighter and Briggs was just as good as the Pole. Briggs came so close to scoring knockdowns in the first fight, in a fight he was handicapped early by a cut caused by the head clash. 2nd fight, there was nothing to seperate the 2 and Briggs obviously gained 2 pts from the low blow and the knockdown.

Definitely, unlucky fighter. Nothing wrong with his ability level. I think he didn't throw loads of shots because he picked 'em carefully, for more damaging effect. What a mess he made of Adamek's face.
