Oscar De La Hoya has always been extremely gracious after defeats and wins alike. He doesn't talk smack about every other fighter like some boxers do, he doesn't come up with loads of excuses, adn he always, always congratulates the winning fighter, with a hand shake and a hug. Really, even after this the DLH are in full swing. I wonder how many will commit suicide once DLH announces his retirement.
You mean like "don't blame me, blame my trainers"? Or "I ate bad shellfish and oysters"? Or "shoulder injuries prevented me from doing what I should have done"? Or "I'm not a sore loser, but I promise to launch a full investigation for the good of boxing"?
Hoya, the disingenious *****. Never gave a rematch to Quartey ( "i think the public demands more exciting fights than this") Thinks he was robbed in the Mosley fight but maintains he beat Sturm. Asks to fight for the middleweight title and obliges Hopkins to weigh UNDER the limit ( priceless). Surrenders on his way to the ring against a midget he forced to move up 2 weight divisions. Thinks he's Mexican.
Off the top of my head, he was very gracious in defeat after the first Mosley fight, the Hopkins fight, the Pacquiao fight, the Mayweather fight (until later when he said that about Roach). He wasn't gracious after the Trinidad and second Mosley fights, and rightfully so. It was disdain for the decision, not the fighter.
what do you expect? you expect him to show his beat up face around? Maybe he just wants to take a break and spend time with his family. Something that you know humans do
The man is still fresh off his beating. He is probably just laying low for the holidays and make an appearance early next month.
He loses every large event that he helps create. DLH-Trinidad 1.4 million buys DLH-Hopkins 1 million DLH-Mayweather 2.4 million DLH-Pacquiao 1.25 million And yet, if he fights again and markets it the right way, I bet he could pull off another 1 million PPV event.
What do you really expect? Him to go on a bunch of talk shows saying "Manny Pacquiao kicked my ass"?? At least he was gracious in the post-fight interview. He hasn't made any excuses like blaming his trainers or talking about bad shellfish.
He is probably laughing his ass of on the way to the bank, ready to count the millions he made by fooling dumbasses into buying his PPV farce. Hope those who bought it enjoyed spending those $55 bucks just to see a ***** QUIT against a midget.
In the end he has a lot more money than us. So we can all ***** and cry about his legacy. Boxing historians like Bert Sugar will not question his legacy. They know what he has done for the sport.
I think that you left quite a few large events. Every heard of Vargas... or Mayorga? Chavez? Whitaker?
