25% ish. the mormeck fight shows haye can execute a plan and not just go looking for the ko like many posters believe. vitali will still be overwhelming favourite. i think vit is 1 - 7 to win and haye is 9 - 2 or something. btw do you think the hype leading upto this fight could compete with the pre hatton-floyd madness on ESB?
that uppercut was one of the hardest punches i have seen in boxing, and that had him on ***** street, big deal. 99.9% of fighters would not have woken up after that, you think haye can hit as hard as that?, i am a big haye fan but your out of your mind
probably about 50% if he does everything right in preperation!! hes even said if vitali lands hes gonna knock me out! the chances are about 90% vitali will land one decent punch, haye aint that powerfull he can blow fighters away
Vitalis chin is proven. Lewis and Sanders can punch as can many other opponents he faced i.e. Hide, Williams etc The thing is Vitali needs to be hit HARD but FAST. Tszyu has more power than Floyd but he thats not how Floyd put Hatton to bed. Same as Ali ko'ing Bonavena, Foreman etc when Frazier couldn't. Speed kills. Haye has to catch Vitali with shots he can't/doesn't see coming. If you don't see the punch, you will have trouble bracing yourself for it. If you can't brace yourself for the punch then you will have trouble absorbing it. Haye has things going for him. He needs to check out Vitalis mid section. You can be tough but if you get caught right to the body then 10 secs later and its all over!!!
Where did I say Haye could hit as hard as that ? Maybe your the one whos out of your mind if you can see that written anywhere ???
Ok, I see the fight being a bit like Haye vs Mormeck. haye will not throw many shots, but will always be moving, the size of the ring could be vital. vitali does not have the legs to chase haye around the ring all night, and hes not a smart enough fighter to not do that. Haye will move in and throw allot of body shots, something Vitali has never had to deal with, open up the gaurd at some point and slip in a few good jabs or right hands, throw vitali of his gameplan. maybe at some point vitali will get to haye and will get him in trouble but hes not a great finsiher, to stop Haye your going to have to knock him out cold with 1 shot, if he puts him in trouble Haye will go down and spend the rest of the round keeping out of the way until his legs get back. getting into round 8,9,10 vitali will be nacked, the body shots will start to take effect along with hitting air all night. haye will then start getting sucess with big shots. he will score a late stoppage ot wide UD. The key for Haye in this fight is stanima. he needs to be ready to fight 12 rounds. you cannot judge Vitali on the Peter fight. Peter was a glorified Punch Bag. Even if he catches Haye, all haye needs to do is keep away to get his legs back. VITALI WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FOLLOW HAYE AROUND THE RING, THIS IS WHY HAYE WILL WIN THE FIGHT. Vitali has never been mobile or agile, and the injurys have slown him down much more. Vitali has never fought anybody like Haye before. Haye is not just a guy who goes in head first to bang guys out, hes not an easy target to hit, hes not a slow fat guy. even lewis in the last fight was not moving around the ring well, just standing and trading. Haye fight like a light heavy.
Haye's stamina is questionable, has been an issue before. Also Haye does not have impecable defence, in fact it is poor. I doubt he can improve it much before the fight with VItali.
the fight could even be like De La Hoya vs Manny Pac. think about it. you got an old guy, past his best, whos going to struggle through training (dlh because of weight vitali cos of injury) agaisnt a guy coming up in weight who is fast, can get around the ring, and can punch. al the same questions were being asked about manny in that fight. Oscar is to big, he will knock Manny out, his punches will not hurt Oscar. Remember Manny got knocked out cold twice but so his chin is not great either.
Haye has also said he prefers fighting tallers guys. Hayes defence is about slipping punches not blocking shots, like all top fighters, how many times did barret and enzo hit haye, 2 guys much fast then vitiali as long as he stays out of a tear up he will be ok. Ive heard storys about haye destroying Harrison, Ibragimov and Arreola in sparring.
I haven't hears stories of him even sparring any of those guys?! I went for 25-50% Vitali is obviously favourite as Haye is still a bit of an unknown quantity at heavyweight, I think he'll have to put in the performance of his life to beat Vitali but I don't think it's impossible...If Haye can box clever, move in and out quickly then he can win...He isn't going to beat Vitali by having a jabbing competition staying at long range, that's for sure!
Skill wise, Enzo and Monte are light years away from Vitali, who is a very accurate puncher. Do you honestly think Haye will be able to avoid Vitali's punches for 12 rounds? For sure anything can happen in boxing, but to me Haye has next to no chance. I do give him respect for taking the fight though.
I'm thinking around 20%. My worry isn't about Haye's offence but about his legs. While he is very quick fisted for a heavy I don't think he will be able to move quick enough on his feet to move out of Vitali's punching range and if he doesn't do that he will be on the end of them long punches and get stopped. Also his stamina and defence are suspect and having to keep moving to avoid the jab is going to mean that I can't see him winning on points. He's going to have to come out slipping the jab and throwing bombs - which while he's not Mike Tyson (early edition) is pretty much what he does anyway.
He has a punchers chance, that's why I plonked for 25-50%. Vitali is about 5" taller, with a couple of inches extra reach, he's obviously going to be much heavier too. Haye's main weapon is his speed, forget his power, because if he isn't fast enough to get past Vitali's jab he'll not land a single punch. The trouble here is, Haye will be punching upwards, a good distance upwards too, and he'll be doing most of the movement, thus tiring him out faster. These factors may greatly reduce his power and speed, as i said, i feel he has a "chance" but not a great one.
The biggest way to beat the taller man is Speed and Movement as Pac Man showed, thats what Haye has to do. As someone stated above, he slips punches beautifully. But if he gets hit well then thats where the problem starts. Hes gotta win the first 4 rounds with speed and movement. Then adapt his game to what he feels is best after seeing and feeling what Vitali has to offer.
