It seems to become clearer and clearer that everyone surrounding Pacquiao wants a fight with Mayweather. Personally i hope this fight will happen and whoever wins, I'm sure it will be a great fight. I believe that Pacquiao earned a fight with Mayweather considering the resume he has. Aside from that, the open question who of these two great P4P kings is the best deserves an answer. My questions are the following : 1) Considering the fact that "team Pacquiao" is obviously aiming for mayweather, what valid reasons might Mayweather have not to accept the challenge? 2) IF Maywether does not want the Pacquiao fight, would that harm his reputation, considering he will decline a fight with his successor P4P king while he would have the height and reach advantage? He seems to have the stacked deck in a fight with Pacquiao doesnt he? I hope we can keep the discussion clean btw, I appreciate the greatness in both fighters. I'm just afraid this fight will not happen and in my view it is a fight that HAS to happen.
1 Fear of losing his precious ''0'',one of the last things that still gives him a higher ranking all time.(altough Castillo kinda beat him once) 2 It's questionable. If he losses yes,if he wins no.
I think Mayweather is very protective of his unbeaten record, doesn't want to blemish his legacy etc, but hasn't realised that he would IMPROVE his legacy by fighting the likes of Pac Man, Margarito, Williams, win OR lose. Also, he is rich, and that seems to be the bottom line for Mayweather. His resume after 140lbs is full of 'low risk, high reward' fights, but he never got hurt and made a tonne of cash. Whether he fights pacman depends on whether he believes he can win with relative ease.
The question should be, Has Mayweather earned a shot at Pacquiao? IMO, Mayweather when he became a "Superfight" (AKA fight's once a year type of fighter) Did very little to prove himself as Pac has done in his "Superfight's. Floyd should be forced to earn his fight against Manny, Then again I'm sure Roach might have some reason for wanting this fight, maybe some "heads up" I don't think Mayweather deserves a shot at Pacquiao.
The pretty boys reputation becomes more and more tarnished as the other leading contenders in and around his weight class start to show greatness.let me explain. 'MONEY Mayweather retired without facing a long list of threats. if he cleaned out the divisions before retiring i beleive he would of gone down as the greatest fighter of all time.wins over cotto, margerito, williams, marquez.then the pac man. would of secured this legacy.
Of course i understand Mayweather being protective of the precious zero wouldnt you be the same way? On the other hand, i do think NOT taking the fight would harm his reputation almost as much as IF he would lose a match with Pacquiao. On this i agree with Lemmiwinks. Wether or not you believe Maywether deserves a shot at Pacquiao based on his fight politics, I do believe he earned the fight through his skill. Even if he is cautious about picking his opponents i do not think many people can argue convincingly he doesnt have the pure boxing skills to make this fight maybe the fight of the decade. If the fight happens it would be just that in my mind. Maybe i'm a little biased because i only relatively recently became a boxing fan, but damm: PAC vs PBF would be awesome.
He'll never step in the ring with Margo or Williams, maybe not even Cotto. But he has more than a shot of beating Pacman.
Maybe, just maybe - he's genuinely retired. I'd like to know what excuses Mayweather's fans will have for him if he doesn't fight Pacman or a top welterweight if/when he comes out of retirement in at least his second fight back. And the really sad thing is they WILL have excuses. And BS ones.
how hard is this to figure out??? PBF may just really be retired..I know it hurts cuz he didn't fight EVERY guy in the world...but maybe he is done fighting...maybe he is tired of training 300 days a year...maybe his hands hurt.... but he will fight pacman/....and whoop dat ass
Yeh if Mayweather is genuinley retired then no body can say anything bad about that. i think Mayweather will wait for after Hatton vs Manny as the winner of that fight is the biggest fight. it should be at 140lbs.
I won't ..he only fights the biggest fights and that is not GATTIRIGO it is PACMAN...maybe he is genuinely retired though
