I believe that a lot of people are completely full of **** when they say that there is no interest in Oscar vs Pacquiao 2, just as much as they were when they said there was no interest in Oscar vs Pacquiao 1. There was a rumor today that Oscar wants a second fight, and of course there was the usual "outrage" that Oscar doesn't deserve this fight. But last time there were a lot of boxing afficionados that completely ruled this fight off as a guaranteed DLH win. Now people are obviously doing the same for Pacquiao. In my opinion Pacquiao would win in a rematch (I don't think any competent person could realistically give Oscar better odds), but at the end of the day it's not like the fight is completely indefensible. Most of the people that are jumping the gun about Oscar forget that he almost certainly had overtraining problems in this fight. It seemed clear to me that there was something wrong with his energy in this fight. He didn't seem to be as energetic from the start as either of his fights with Forbes and Mayweather. It is definitely a possibility that he was possibly dehydrated or overly weight drained from a poor weight reduction strategy, and even if this is just a mere possibility, it is something that raises the intrigue of a possible second fight where Oscar might fight the fight that most people expected him to fight, instead of the one sided ass whooping that happened. Adding Mayweather Sr. as a trainer might also add some additional intrigue, if simply because the weight issues wouldn't come up again. What fight would I rather see next? Easy, that's either Pacquiao vs Mayweather or Hatton or Hatton vs Mayweather at 140. But if a Pacquiao vs. ODLH 2 fight were to be made, I would do the same as most of the "outraged" posters on these forums. I would voice my dissappointment in not getting to see the above mentioned fights, entertain the notion of not paying for the fight, and then succumb to the pressure and call my Directv operators and order the fight at the last hour. It's the same thing that happened last time. The bottom line is that for all the moral outrage I hear on the forums, I bet almost every single one of those people would watch the fight on PPV if they fought again. Remember that this is a guy that drew more than 1 million buys for a fight with Ricardo Mayorga. I mean lets be real here. A fight against Pacquiao would be billed as possibly Oscar's last fight. Do we really think that people wouldn't tune in to watch the Golden Boy either triumph one last time, or go down in flames. For the record, I understand that the point of people's outrage is that they aren't getting the best fights and I DEFINITELY want to see Pacquiao vs Mayweather as the next fight. I'm just making the point that I feel that most people are being hyperbolous as usual in their proclamations when speaking about the prospects of the possibility and viability of a sequel to their fight. Am I wrong or right?
Of course I would LOVEEEEE to see Oscar's ass being kicked again. But a better question would have been : "Let's be honest: Who would PAY to watch Pac-Hoya 2"! I would never pay 55 dollars for it. I'd watch it for free.
I honestly wouldn't watch this. I was shocked by the outcome of the first fight, but after seeing that the first time, no I wouldn't. Actually, let me say, I would look for a way to watch this for free, but I wouldn't spend any of my own money to get the pay per view.
I'm against it. It's a waste of Pac's time. Oscar has already done his share of preventing good match ups from happening. This is what happens when your name is worth a lot more than your boxing skills. He has not only impaired his legacy, but he is seriously starting to damage the sport. Does boxing need more mismatches?
I'm serious. Don't get me wrong, I saw the one sided ass whooping that Oscar got, and I feel pretty much the same thing would happen again. But to say that there wouldn't be interest in the fight is something that I just don't believe. The fight would be just too improbable, just like the first one, and circusy not to generate interest.
There'd be interest sure, just like there would be interest if Tyson made another comeback. But Hoya's huge PPV does are finished. He has looked awful recently and get beaten in his most recent bout. A rematch would make money, but only if both men were willing to take a pay cut.
I'm not interested and doubt I would pay again. The only thing that could make it competitive is letting DLH come in at 150.
I would not watch DLH again vs any professional fighter, I dont regard DLH as a pro boxer any more, his last fight proved that beyond doubt. I might watch if the fight was on at a reasonable time in the UK, like 10 or 11 at night & if it was not on ppv & we got the fight for free, thats if I wasnt busy that night but other than that Im done with DLH.
No way in hell would I pay to see that fight. I might not even watch it for free. It's totally non-competitive and wouldbe based purely on Oscar worship and slick marketing.
