Who currently has the stronger resume, Kessler or Dawson?

i would say dawson, because of what adamek has done post dawson.

but in dawsons favour he has fought 4 overseas fighters in his defenses and had home advantage everytime and 1 american at a nuetral venue, whereas kessler has fought 3 of his 8 title fights in his opponents backyard.

just like american football /ice hockey and basketball, it is harder to win on the road , even v teams not as good.

 

I would say kessler. The best names on Dawson's resume are Adamek, Johnson and Tarver and two of them are about 40 years old. The Johnson win was not a comfortable one either. Kessler has a loss on his record but he didn't lie down and take it, he fought well. Kessler has comfortably beaten Mundine, Beyer and Andrade and destroyed most of his other opponents. It's closer than i first thought but i think Kessler just takes it for me.

 

You know I get called a hater by so many different fan groups....Its usually because I tell it how it is and if your a fan of Kessler in this case and dont like it there is really not much to debate.....Mundine is the best fighter on Kesslers resume, and the next best is a crude tough guy in Andrade. who only became a full time fighter a few years ago...

Oh wait then there is a featherweight....:yep

 

Kessler clearly has the better resume, but not much better.

 

Judging the opponents' realistic quality at the time the fights happened, I'd say Kessler, but I have to add I'm leaning toward him because in my personal opinion Johnson beat Dawson.

Mundine > Tarver at the time
Calzaghe > Johnson
Beyer < Adamek
Andrade > Mendoza
Siaca > Harding

 

Calzaghe is a name on Kessler's resume. Even though its an L, its still a name on his resume. Like Pac is a name on JMM's resume, and JMM gets rated accordingly.

 

Take a look:

Kessler: Andrade, Beyer, Lucas, Mundine, close loss to Calzaghe (I had it 115-113, clear but close fight)

Dawson: Adamek, Tarver, close loss to Johnson.

In my eyes, about the same value, just because many say Dawson actually won the fight against Johnson, I say he has better resume, but I am not sure this is the right pick. It is not "comfortable", in any way.

 

Kessler has the depth, Dawson has the truly superior names.

I'd go for Dawson by a hair.

 

Dawson has bigger names, but Kess has won his fights in more dominant fashion.

Kessler is the better fighter.

That is because most people thought that JMM won one or both those fights...Kessler got his ass kicked.

I don't believe in this bull**** excuse about weight. Adamek is a good win for Dawson regardless. At least equal maybe better than Kessler's 12-0 domination of Andrade even if Kessler won more clearly.

Just got past Johnson another good win. Johnson is a better more focused fighter than somebody like Mundine all things being equal, but Mundine turned up impressively on the night. Kessler won clearer again, but still I give a slight edge to Dawson based on Johnson being better.

Tarver was ****. A big name, but performed much worse than even Mundine. Still a wins a win, its probably still getting more credit than starching Beyer.

I suppose we've got to factor in Kessler's loss too. Against a great fighter, but a competetive fight. It doesn't really damage him, maybe the opposite.

I give Dawson an edge overall, wouldn't take much to swing it further in favour of Dawson or more towards Kessler based on future fights.
