I know this sound dramatic but despite what we boxing fans want to believe it’s sadly true,

The charade tonight with Evander tonight just highlights what a terrible state boxing is in and it could be a terminal slump of which the sport may never recover (not just the night tonight)

Boxing is the sweet science, styles make fights and that was what makes the Duran’s vs. Lenard’s the Hatton vs. Floyd so intriguing.

but in today’s instant hit, mtv generation MMA is much more appealing waiting a great stand up fighter ( boxer, muay Thai) against a grappler ( bjj or all American wrestler ) just as appalling although on a smaller stage ( at this point)

Tonight was horrible and a typically German type up practise, I’m British and from robin Reid’s home town and the officiating tonight and the result of Reid and ottke where no different terrible decisions that don himself would have been proud of!

As easy as it is to think this is just a German problem bad officiating is ruining our sport, ask a brit if he thought Cortez was bias in the mayweather fight?

MMA is consistently full of competitive fights where because of differing skill sets different fighters have the opportunity to win wherever the fight goes making an exciting sport.

Unfortunately we're in a era where the $$$ rains over sportsmanship and people will look for what they see as a fair fight>

flame away coz I know I’m gonna get it but please remember I am a true boxing fan who follows great fighter from any ZIP code, not just fighters from UK or Europe but guys like glen Johnston and Andre Berto so this isn't a euro thing!

In 20 years time we'll be retelling stories of greats that a time has passed by.

    horrible but true

    Please flame / discuss away

Why can't boxing form a central, overarching league with a commissioner ( like most other serious pro sports) responsible for maintaining conduct, integrity and discipline through out the sport as a whole? Judges, like the ones tonight, would likely never be employed in the first place by a responsible league or would be disciplined/investigated, for corruption, for making such egregious errors. Boxing needs a standard set of rules/criteria and a commissioner with the right authority, to enforce this. It needs it badly.

    Here,here!

german officiating is awefull but then again so is italian or if we want to throw stones some of don kings promotions,

the sport needs so regultore ( warren g style) that rains in these rouge states, US boxing is just as bad if you look at the last augustas fight!

boxing no longer corners the combat sports market world wide with MMA being massive in the US and Japan and k-1 kickboxing being huge in mainland europe ( the only major countries that produce more boxers than kickboxers are the UK , germany(maybe) and the poles)

boxing doesnt start and end with boxing anymore and we are in danger of losing relavance on in the world scean

    so true<

the recent final was terrible with badr hari, rightfully being disqualified but remy invitinfg it if you like?

the final was officaly holland vs moroco but badr harir is duch trained ( mikes gym) so it was very much a duch affiar!

kuickboxing is assive in central europe ( ask why there has never been a duch boxing champ but they as a nation has won the vast, vast majority of K-1 title's ( except hunt and citich the croat-spelling??)

the only real boxing countries in europe are the old eastern block ( the best amatuer boxers in the world bar the cubans) and us brits!

Boxing is controlled by gambling and boxing politics in a lot of ways. That is the main reason it doesn't stand a chance of ever becoming legitimate again. It can't tear itself away from the stranglehold of gambling. You don't see so much fuss being made over cheating in amateur boxing do you? No because there's no money in it. Gambling influences all sports tremendously. They never like to admit it, but that is the main reason why scores are never changed, regardless of if it is guaranteed and proved that an error was made, even if they have it on video. But gambling affects boxing the most imo. And then the greed of the boxing federations fukks up the already clusterfukked system.
