Can't believe the crap directed at Calzaghe here. He says: * Boxing is losing market share to UFC etc. TRUE; * Boxing is dying a slow death in America. TRUE (look at ggym participation now compared with 30 years ago, and how many athletes go to other, easier, better paying sports such as BBall, Bktball, Gridiron etc); * The fact that there are four belts makes it very hard for the common fan to identify with boxing champs. TRUE. * DLH has been semi-retired for years. TRUE. We all know that; * DLH was a great fighter in the past. TRUE. I'm struggling to see anything he said that is untrue. Can someone enlighten me? OR, as I suspect, are people just being exceptionally parochial, and 'Nard is simply attempting to drum up some support for a new fight.
yeah he does and he is a great fighter but Calzaghe has the right to talk regardless of how ridiculous it sounds to people. Bernard can complain but Joe beat Bernard and that speaks for itself. I am a person who sees things the way they are, and Calzaghe beat Bernard in this country. No excuses. Bernard does not deserve a rematch.. So Bernard can talk all he wants it still does not erase the loss. I like Bernard and Oscar and Joe and Pacman. But Joe has to be able to vent his frustration. He has had a good year. So has Bernard with Pavlik. The only one who came out looking bad is Oscar. But when you handpick smaller fighters to get a win and then get knocked out by that small fighter it doesn't help his legacy. :hat
Calzaghe just isn't a self-absorbed persona with a huge chip on his shoulder. Oscar "I really is Mexican" De la Hoya. Hey, I respect Oscar, but a spade is a spade.
Hopkins should be the one to shut the hell up! What the HELL HAS HE EVER DONE?!!! Joe is 46-0! Damn the comp! As long you are undefeated that all that matters! I LOVE YOU JOE!!!!
i suspect no one, is going to reply to your post.. its too well written, its too coherant, and basicly you are 100 % right, which makes it hard to argue against:deal
Joe's my favorite fighter, along with Mayweather, but honestly this statement both pissed me off and was kind of telling about the truth at the same time. I think both Calzaghe and Hopkins were telling it as they saw it, but really I don't think Joe should have criticized Oscar, despite the fact that he was telling the truth about Oscar. As for the state of boxing, well Joe's selective fighting has been part of the problem, just like all current champion's selective fighting. So he's right, but it's not something you should be speaking about when you're part of the problem.
