Do you consider Evander "The Real Deal"

I'm thinking less about the shittiness Valuev/the HW division and more about his health. I know Holyfield was starting to slur his words earlier this decade. It supposedly improved a bit when the NYSAC suspended his license, but he's fighting again. He can pass the medical tests and all, but that only proves so much.

 

You think it's a coincidence that every venue he fights in ends up chanting Ho-ly-field at some point? You have to earn that type of adulation. You think that a fighter can just earn a nickname like "the Warrior?" That word is used in every other sentence in boxing. You don't just earn that moniker unless you're a special type of fighter.

Evander is and has always been "the Real Deal."

 

You got to be the real deal to be the consensus ATG #1 in any weight division, even a relatively young division like Cruiser. And he is.

 

Yes. IMO he is the no.1 cruiser ever, a top 15 hw ever, and a top 35 p4p ATG OAT. For me, that is indeed the Real Deal.

Real deal is just a nickname for a brilliant & legendary fighter, just like surreal deal is a nickname for a brilliant & legendary poster.

 

Prime Evander was a Warrior who exposed the myth of Mike Tyson. Boxing should at least thank him for that.

He's one of the few fighters who receives very little hate from anybody and rightfully so. The guy was awesome to watch in his prime, used to love the exchanges that guy got into.
