Hopkins would have beaten the Valuev that fought Evander last weekend.

I was actually watching the fight thinking that this Valuev would get smashed by Haye and a lot of cruisers and exceptional light heavies could probably put on 20-30 pounds and dance round him.

I could off seen hopkins giving a john ruiz or chris byrd a good fight for the world champoinship when they were belt holders but no way could he mix it up with the gaints of the division

I agree totally. I was pissed, he should have took on Byrd, that would have been respectable.

Hopkins?? Toney?? Hill?? Griffin?? McCallum?? Were none of these fights examples of a supremely-talented fighter dazzling top opposition?

Hopkins and Toney were in 93, he didn't do **** in between.

    Hill was shot.

    Griffin was a good win.

    McCallum was good.

But Roy padded his record with a lot of ****. Not as bad as Calzaghe, but his record is definately padded.

Just ignore him, he's a troll and a hater, don't waste your time.

Roy Jones ranks ahead of Hopkins and most people seem to think that anyway.

I rank Roy ahead of Bernard myself. Nice signature BTW.

Take a sedative. There are a lot of Calzaghe avatars in the thread and he's the guy Hopkins last lost to. I also commented on Jones but you chose to attack me about Calz., that's selective. This thread is hypothetical so it's all open for discussion, and comparisons are always made based on a fighters past. You honestly never took into account that Hopkins great victory over Pavlik enhances Calzaghes legacy? And if Hopkins was ko'd by Pavlik in a couple of rounds, Calzaghes legacy would have taken a hit?

Hopkins was '93, Toney '94, McCallum, Griffin and Hill 96-98. Not bad for a 5-year period when you consider the number of other fights he had in between. His resume isn't great, but I wasn't saying it was, that wasn't my point.

Now obviously he would never beat either Klitschko, but if he did move up and beat them he would be ranked top 15 of all time in my opinion, if he just beat Valuev then he would probably move upto around top 30, i wouldnt see that as a big of an achievement as RJJ beating Ruiz.

You Cal-***gies always wanna use that "Hopkins win over whoevadafuk he fights increase Joe's legacy" bull**** non-stop! And it's totall bull****.

Just because one guy gets a win over another guy, does not default that next guy would win other the other guys's win. It total bull**** reasoning.

Just like every Cal-***gy claiming that just because Hopkins won over Pav that Cal would get the same result, it's bull****! If that was the case Roy should have beat the **** out of Tarver, instead of the other way around. If that was the case taylor should have beat the shot out of Pav, but he didn't.

Joe got a close (and widely disputed) split decison over Hops and there is no guarentee he would get the decision over Pav, if it even got to the cards. There are plenty of case where one fighter loses to one fighter only to beat the guy who beat the guy he lost to. The only way to prove your better is in the ring, and all this piggybacking bull**** has to stop.

Because if thats the case Hops should definatley be ranked over Roy since he beat 2 guys who KO'd him. And if you are gonna rank Hops over Roy, then you MUST rank Joe over RJJ because he won the decision over Hops.

And even the thought of that is not only ridiculous, but ****ing perverse.

If he could do this i would put him well above RJJ. At the moment they are in a pretty similar ATG position
