Why doesn't Breidis Prescott get Juanma's hype?

If that's the case then I must know everything about everything, because it's going to take alot more than 54 seconds to get any HYPE from me..

 

Because Juanma has legitimate skills to back up his power, and Breidis Prescott sucks. Watch other fights of his. He sucks, plain and simple. There are journeymen out there who would beat him as long as they can stand up to his power.

He KO'ed Khan in 54 seconds. Yea Khan is chinny everyone knows that, but to KO him in such devastating fashion, wow. Everyone in England has heard of Khan, even non boxing fans, Khan is always in the public eye. So to knock out the poster boy.....yep gets hype from me all day long.

Alot of people on this forum won insane numbers picking Prescott in that fight. Do you know why? Because somebody was going to knock Khan the **** out. It could have been anyone, especially the next guy he fought. You should look at Brickhaus' post. He's always well informed and razor sharp - but I didn't need that sort of confirmation to reserve judgement. I was reserving judgement before I had gotten what I now consider a valuable report from Brickhaus. It seems I was wise to do so..

 

I also think its hard to market a guy from a country who's biggest export is cocaine, kidnapping and Shakira.

Dude read the question, it is about 'hype' not whether you thought Khan was going to be KO'ed or not. KO'ing Khan has brought Prescott to many peoples attention. I want to see him next time, so already there is a hype to him. Thats all, thats my opinion.

JuanMa is a championship level fighters with amazing power and has KO'd world class fighters in less then a round.

Presscott KO'd a prospect with a very very suspect chin.

Khan has a leaky defence and a horrible chin. But for some favourable refereeing he would have had a couple of KO losses on his record before the Prescott fight.

Prescott was awful in his last fight prior to Khan. Going the full ten rounds with essentially a journeyman and winning an SD was hardly good form.

It was probably a calculated move from Khan's people because he was copping stick for not fighting punchers. To the mainstream who don't know boxing (his main fan base) a guy with 17 KO's from 19 looks like a puncher, and everyone knows that Colombians have a reputation of being rock hard. Khan ought to have had the ring smarts after 18 fights to diffuse him, which as a Brit worries me because he failed miserably.

Hatton, Haye and Calzaghe all faced similar opponents within their first 20 fights and dealt with them. All we heard from Amir was 'I shouldn't have been put in with a puncher'.

Frank Warren retained options on Prescott and he would be pretty marketable in the UK, but not many people want to fight any other UK 135lb'er other than Khan.

 

I think this comment above is a bit of a stereotypical ignorant comment. There is Cocaine and Kidnapping going on all over the world. Stick to the actual topic as you might find yourself kicked off for offending the natives.

However Breidis Prescott in his last outing against Richard Abril won a close Split decision that could of gone in the other mans favour but the reason why he won is because he was making the fight happen.

He definetly needs a trainer like Floyd Senior to get that Defensive skills into play as I think he will have trouble against slick fighters.

He can be outboxed at this point in time so he definetly needs to get in there with a solid trainer.

He has signed with Frank Warren so hopefully we will see more of this kidd.

Juan Manuel Lopez has not fought anyone to be honest and until he does then we can say Hey, but I dont class Daniel Ponce De Leon as someone, he punches like a ***** and he was a hype job coz he looked **** on the undercard of Floyd vs Hatton when he fought Escobedo, I knew it was just a matter of time.

I must say I do like Gamboa but with him also he has not fought anyone yet so we are waiting until these guys fight people who can actually stand in there and test these guys. I think Gamboa has fought better opposition so far than Juan Manuel Lopez in my opinion.

Everyone says that Gamboa is not ready for Jorge Linares, maybe thats a thread that could be started as I think Speed Kills in this situation...

 

It's called activity, after his win over Khan you would expect to see him fight already, he hardly did anything in the fight against Khan anyway to stay inactive for as long as he did. Khan had a fight recently and Prescott was supposed to fight in December too yet nothing happened, don't know what Warren is planning for him, hope they don't keep him inactive for nearly a year then put him against Khan.

 

Its true - early in khans career (relatively as its still early i guess) i had bets on round 1 or round 2 knockouts for khan. In his last couple of fights i had bets on him being knocked out in those rounds - not based on WHO he was fighting but just presuming the fighter he would be fighting would be slightly better than than the last and more likely to hit his chin thus knocking him out.

With Khan dropping it wasnt about who he was fighting it was just about a decent punch landing. That said i'd still be intrigued to see this guy as khan still getting some hype and he beat khan.

Khan was an olympic hero over here and got the hype that follows (a lot to do with his character as well and what he represented in UK a clean living articulate young muslim male at a time to counteract anti muslim sentiment knocking about due to world affairs)

Khan's hype was not so based on pro boxing but to do with being a medalist (not gold), looking exciting offensively against bums and his marketability -Back to point - yup will be interesting to see if the guy does anything or at least khan should rematch him.
