My favourite displays of "in the pocket" fighting are James Toney vs Iran Barkley and Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Phillip N'Dou.

    What are yours?

Several Roy Jones Jr. fights and Calzaghe-RJJ (yeah.... many are gonna hate that, but Joe did to Roy what Roy has done to others).

My favorite of the two is still Roy though.

Toney/Jirov. This was fought in a phone booth. Odd tactics from Jirov, nevertheless a cracking fight to watch.

IMHO had pbf had not been deducted the point for using elbows ( review the hatton fight to see what i mean, used the same tactics inside) that's the style fight he was trying to turn it into.

Of course, another perfect example of how to fight in the pocket from the genius that is James Toney. Any others TFFP?

Personally I wouldn't call that one a masterclass in inside boxing.

I always think of the Toney/Jirov as an example.

Congratulations on your 1000th post! :good

Which RJJ fights in particular do you think were good in-the-pocket displays?

I didn't think Calzaghe-RJJ was at all either.

I haven't seen it in a while, but I am pretty sure I recall there being some top class inside fighting in Whitaker v McGirt.

Hatton-PBF could have been great but the ref stopped hatton from working inside

Toney is the greatest in-fighter of all time! I cant even think of anyone in his league off the top of my head.

Weirdly, because it ended with his getting knocked out, I like Moore v Marciano. It was the right plan.

I expected Duran and Chavez to figure more prominently in this discussion. Obviously Duran-Leonard I was special. Any Chavez fans out there?

Duran-Barkley was excellent taking into consideration the circumstances of that fight.
