One loss is not the end of a prospect's career. But according to the boxing fan it is

Yoan Pable Hernandez was the next to fall... luckily for him he wasn't very well known outside of Germany and wasn't hyped very much so no "bum" and "overrated" threads were opened...

I'm pretty sure that a young talent like Hernandez can do better... especially after he almost finished Braithwaite in the first...

Keep on with the good work Yoan Pablo! Time is on your side!

you can't compare a loss in a tennis match to a loss in a prize fight. boxer's invest far more in preparation for a fight than tennis players do for matches so a loss should be seen as a bigger deal. Also, if tennis player loses he will in all likelihood have every opportunity to avenge his defeat on future tours whereas the loss stands as an unavenged black mark on most boxers' records. It's true thought that no fighter should be written off after a single loss.

I have to disagree. Juan Diaz lost but alot of people still think he is a good boxer. Not the amazing killer that they thought he was before but still good. Taylor lost to Pavlik but alot of people still think he is a good boxer. Not on of the 10 best in the world but still a good one. JMM lost to Pacquiao and alot of people still think he is top3 p4p. Mosley lost to Cotto but people still recognize he is a very good boxer. Kessler lost to Calzaghe and people still see him as a really good boxer.

the list goes on and on. I get your post however and can see where you're coming from with it

sometimes in a loss like Lacy did against Calzaghe, it would be stupid not to reevaluate a boxer. Sometimes even in a win, like Duddy against Smichet, it would be stupid not to reevaluate a boxer as well

Yeah everyone here thinks my boy Andy Lee is done now!
What a joke-I think a loss early in a career can help more than hurt a boxer.

Unfortunately it is hard to take posts like this seriously.

I have read similar posts before and the motivation behin the post was that some fighter the guy liked had just lost.

I would then see the same guy that expressed these attitudes ridicule a European fighter for being exposed a while later.

In other words - a good attitude - but for all the wrong reasons.

PS. If this is also the case here I do not know.

    good post bigbone.

the man in your avy is another example of how people were writing him off when he got ko'd by nonito.. only to bounce back with a KO win and other TKO win over mijares in dramatic fashion as a 3 to 1 underdogg.

Your absolutely right. When Mundine, with out any amateur carrier, lost in his only 11 fight to Ottke in Germany he never get any credit. Why...... Because we only wants to see the undefeated "champions" fighting at home defending there one division belt for years.
People on hear crying out for some real 168 fights - please - it will only happens when fighters, who risk there title fighting away from home, gets some recognition!

The undefeated crap is ruining boxing - the consequences are that boxers avoid the tough fights. The fights that mean true greatness, and the fights everyone should want to see.
