Westwood is a tosser. Haye would have become my all time favourite boxer ever if he had knocked him the **** out.
Westwood needs to grow up, he is not Gangsta, he is a middle aged, middle class man from Lowestoft...wanker...
Thoughts: 1) Westwood is annoying. 2) Haye has a rare gift amongst modern boxers -- he can talk. We normally use that term in reference to trash talking here, but I mean it in a much more general sense. His speech is very smooth, clear, quick, and it exudes complete confidence. Ali had that quality, Hamed had it, and Haye has it, just to name a few. At some points he was even sharper than the guy interviewing him, and he was never 'left behind'. That's pretty impressive, considering that he was interacting (live) with a radio presenter. 3) Last few minutes -- when they were gearing up for that stomach punch gag -- were hilarious.
I agree that speaking well is something we should appreciate from boxers. In essence, any athlete that can carry a precise conversation is refreshing to see. But well in boxing, unfortunately most boxers are not very educated or well spoken for that matter. I'd say 95% of world class fighters have had a limited education and for a lot of them it shows when they speak.
David Haye is a legend. If we put all the bull****, patriotic, hate filled comments aside, the guy is a breath of fresh air to boxing. Intelligent, articulate, humble (anyone who thinks otherwise does not understand the way he operates. Its all pantomime and designed to increase interest not only in his own fights, but the sport as a whole), handsome and above all a top class boxer. He may not beat Vitali, he may well get his ass kicked, but hats off to the guy for taking on the best heavyweight of recent years in his 3rd heavyweight fight and putting a potentially successful heavyweight career on the line. Its about time more people started getting behind this guy. Hes a ****ing legend.
He is quite a charming individual that comes from him being a big black dude who used to do modelling or still does, you get that confidence about yourself.
