Who ya'll got? ... I'm going with Collazo the verteran ... I think that Berto is okay but i'm not in awe of him. He's flashy but he lacks fundamental skill and he hasn't gone the full distance with a welterweight with championship experience. I question Berto's chin and I question his heart and stamina ... now I know that Collazo has been M.I.A but he still the same ol' "louie" and he will take Berto deep and drown him. No defense No head movement No power Fighting a southpaw ... hell Collazo gave sugar shane some problems ...
I agree. I feel Berto is overated a little and could be very good in the future but right now he can't hang out with someone like Collazo. I see this as the same type of fight as Casa-Katsidis except that Collazo doesn't have Casa's talents but he is fresher at this point and i also feel that his style will give Berto a lot of trouble. Berto never fought any world class guys and has looked good against fighters who fought scared against him (Forbes, Trabant) while when he fought someone who was there to win (Estrada or Rivera for example) he had trouble and those two aren't near the level of Collazo. I see Berto starting strong, winning rounds on talent and athleticism alone but as the fight will wear on i see Collazo taking him into deep waters and taking advantage of his lack of experience to win a decision (that they might give to Berto anyways since he is the prospect and all).
It'll be Berto's toughest fight...but he will win a MD This will setup a tune up fight for PBF to have a belt... Hatton will have already lost to Pac at the Wembly and the superfight WILL COMMENCE! PBF's defense of his belt @ 147 against Pac 1 of 2 things will happen... IF PAC WINS: He will retire as a serious a possible top 10 ATG... IF PBF WINS: He sets up a fight with Margo, Williams, or Cotto...wins and becomes a possible top 10 ATG... Either way...ONE of these fighters will go down in boxing's most coveted throne of greatness
Your theory is amazing but I don't think that Berto would fight Floyd, especially as a comeback/tune up fight ... he thinks he a younger version of Floyd and just because of the respect factor I don't think he would fight him.
Collazo all the way, and I think he'll be the best opponent for Berto, but you can't say the same thing for Collazo, who's fought Hatton and Mosley. Both whom are just as fast if not fast than Berto and a bit stronger. Berto has no power -- Berto has only went 12 rounds (1) once Berto has yet to face a former welterweight titlist ... up until now he's been fighting smaller fighters or former title contenders.
collazo by md.. I mean he almost beat the atg ricky hatton, whats this green and overrated berto gonna do?
I agree Collazo is underrated, he has a some very good skills and a southpaw is always difficult. I think he can get UD here
