After all the messing about last year with Inkin I am getting fed up with the 'will he or won't he' attitude of Jermain Taylor. I would prefer Carl to have a prime time defence on ITV every 2 months against those in the top 15 who want to fight for a belt. Names of Steiglitz, Mads Larson & Murat are not big names, but they are ranked and would help to build up the public recognition of Carl as he works towards the blockbusters. Eubank built up this way by fighting regularly, and Calzaghes early defences were not anywhere near the elite of the divison.

Thaxton, Barker and Fury could appear on the undercards and build up similar interest as on the Big Fight in the late 80's -early 90's

Which world champs defend every 2 months? 3 times a year is pushing it these days.

Good point, although I wonder how long the British boxing public would accept these opponents

Some of Eubanks defences were bloody awful to watch.

Froch did say that he would not 'swerve any mandatory challengers' - perhaps as a dig to the other fighters out there who cherry pick.

I agree though, be good to see Froch regular, as he always provides an exciting fight.

Froch vs Bika would be a good start for unifiying

I don't think Taylor wants anything to do with Froch, because Hennessy would be able to win the purse bid and be able to make the £££ stack up to be able to stage it here.

Froch should chase unification against Kessler or Bute - Taylor is going to run.

I dont understand why Bika is regarded as this 'great stepping stone'.

    The guy is pony.

He nutted Marcus Beyer so badly his eye was almost hanging out. Then he constantly nutted Calzaghe.

Jaidon Coddrington almost stopped him in the first round of their fight.

    Brian Magee would beat him.

Carl doesn't seem the sort who could fight every couple of months. He gets lots of injuries and the way he fights, he needs time to recover.

Carl, like Haye, is a breath of fresh air and I'm confident he and Hennessey will get some big fights in 2009. I hope to be there for all of them.

Thats a good post, kind of.

Only thing about Carl though, is that I dont think hes beaten a top level fighter yet.

Many moons ago, I remember Scotty harrison getting slaughtered for beating a certain Samuel Kebede, a nobody with a flashy unbeaten record. Scotty did him in a round, & was pounded for it. This Pascal guy? what was so different? A canadian with a padded unbeaten record, Froch outpoints him(deservedly I must admit) & you are classing him the same as David Haye, a fighter who is pure old school & will fight anyone, no matter the risk?
Im sorry, but I dont think Froch deserves big credit until he actually faces a top fighter. IMO, he hasnt done that yet. His last victim IMO was no bigger a name than Kebede when you look at it without the blinkers on.
