He is much more powerful then Dawson and had even quicker hands not to mention being much more proven against quality fighters.

i think Patterson would be a beast at this weight and would be remebered as an ATG and the GOAT at his weight

He would do very well indeed unless he got hit on the chin by a half decent puncher.

He got hit on the chin by big punching heavyweights much bigger than him and went nowhere. In fact, he got multi-pounded by an ATG HW puncher in Liston and was still getting to his feet.

And ''half-decent punching'' Lt. Heavies are going to really hurt him?:rofl:nut:-:)roll:

Patterson would be king today at LHW, without question. His chin would be superb.

Well great that he got to his feet, but he was still stopped inside one round. Twice. And the Lt. heavies of today are as big as the heavies of his day.

Which 175lb men fighting currently do you think were hitting as hard as Liston or The Swede though? I think it's worth saying that Patterson was only stopped by these two hard hitting HW's and Ali. Johansson was weighing close to 200 and Liston was weighing around 215. I don't think anyone in the division is hitting as hard as these boys.

I dont honestly know if any cruiserweights or heavyweights today hit as hard as Liston and Johansen.

No current LHW hits as hard as Liston or Ingo, that much is clear. I don't think any current LHW would stop him but he'd suffer several knockdowns as he did back then.

At cruiserweight, Haye hits as least as hard as either of them, Mac hits very hard as well... Tavoris Cloud and Alexander Alexeev are extremely hard punchers too, though it's a bit early to judge there (i'm brining up the cruiserweights in response to Janitor, not to you).

I think it is a bit early to compare any of those guys to Liston or Johansen as a puncher including Haye.

He would have even faster hands at 175, his power that he had at Heavyweight would not be as good but would still be outstanding and his chin would not be an issue in my opinion. I think he would be close to unstoppable.

I love Haye but to compare his power to Liston or Ingos Bingo is just too early. Those guys could crack and people overlook that when talking about Floyd. They see the Liston or Ingo fight and instantly pick any decent puncher to beat him without thinking about the weight and size he was giving up and the power his opponents had. Patterson would decimate the current LHW heap and that's not even an insult to them, Patterson was just a great fighter.

How do you guys reckon Patterson would do in today's CW division, then?

Who ever dented his chin badly when he was at the lower weight?

Again with David Haye out of the way I think he could clean up prety convincingly.
