Jacques Crecy, a journeyman at 166 lbs, knocked down Patterson. 0-0 Rademacher knocked him down. Harris knocked him down, Chuvalo had him down, Quarry had him down twice (and another time in the rematch).

Don't forget how big a puncher Patterson was.

    Precisely.

How many fighters hit as hard as Chuvalo and Quarry at LHW?

Rademacher was a Gold Medallist. Patterson looked unfathomably embarassed getting up against him, he wasn't seriously hurt in the least.

Patterson didn't even go down against Chuvalo.
I'd venture to say that more than half his knockdowns were flash/off balance pokes. Crecy, Pete, Roy, a couple of the Quarry's, etc, etc... didn't even hurt him outside of embarrassing the heck out of him.
Most posts are referencing his questionable chin against the smaller guys. How about the punching power he would bring down and lay on the LH's and CW's? Those combos were numbing and that big left hook was HOF material!
You know, I've often wondered how the first Ingo fight might have played out had Ingo decked him at the end of round 3.
His recooperative powers during a fight were pretty remarkable.
