Just watched it on DVD! I agree 100%. I have no respect for Ali after watchig that. Uncle Tom my ass, Frazer taught him a ****ing lifelong lesson, of hich he will never recover. Didnt even have the decency to apologise to his face afterwards.
I actually recieved a reply to a letter I sent to Joe Frazer last year, after watching the fights for the first time. Nice chap, didnt say much, was just appreciative that I wrote to him. Top bloke.
Yeah, thats a SURE thing alright. atsch You may not like Ali but you seriously think a man that has never quit anything in his life... who is way ahead in the fight vs his most hated rival & the 1st man to beat him... with ONE ROUND to go wasnt gonna come out for that last rd & at least try & see it thru ? Give me a ****in break ALI TKO14 FRAZIER :smoke
1. Ali was quite a bit past his peak - 4 yrs + a bit of rust to be exact. 2. The FOTC was a very close fight, what a bull**** myth that Frazier dominated Ali. 3. That documentary was terribly biased, there is ALWAYS 2 sides to every story.
Who was the happy fella with the really white teeth who was in Frazier's corner. The one who said he went to Ali's dressing room to check the gloves and stuff. He was entertaining!
Rust? He looked cracking against Bonavena having become the first and only man ever to stop him...he also destroyed one aged and one peak contender by KO. What rust? He was past his prime, I agree, but his best win, arguably three of his best wins were still ahead of him. What myth? I've never seen it suggested anywhere that Frazier dominated Ali, by anyone. Who or what are you talking about? I disagree that it was biased, but even if you were right and it was, "there is ALWAYS to sides to every story"? Are you kidding? The media bias in favour of Ali is completely ovewhelming.
Looked cracking vs Bonevena ? :admin Have you seen this fight ?.... Ali looked like absolute **** & the fight was hanging in the balance until Ali TKOd him, Ali was no more than 1 or 2 points ahead & who are the aged & peak contenders Ali beat ?... Ali beat Quarry in 3 rds by a cut before facing Bonevena then he fought Frazier, hardly gonna lose 3 & half yrs of ringrust going less than 18 rds before facing one of the best HWTs ever at their peak. You said Frazier smashed Ali in the FOTC & agreed with Frazier`s comment to Ali that he beat the **** out of him, thats were I got `dominated` from. If you dont see how biased in Joe`s favour that documentary was then I dont know what to say.... Ali only had ONE man from his side in the whole thing & that was Pacheco the doctor.
Of course i've seen it. Ali might have "looked ****" to you but he was able to do what Ron Lyle, Joe Frazier, Floyd Patterson, Jimmy Ellis, Zora Folley, Leotis Martin were unable to do and score a stoppage. All of these are top fighters, and some of them (Lyle, Frazier) are celebrated punchers. So Ai was able to combine skill and punching to a winning end in a way that none of these top HW's, including an ATG one, were able to do. However he might have "looked" to you, that should tell you something.
It was biased but it did pour light onto Joes side of things which are often pushed aside because of iconic status that Ali has attained.
(1) In the first fight, Ali was past his prime a bit while Frazier was in his...However, rarely do two fighters meet in their absolute prime (or anywhere near it), and in this case, it was close enough. (2) The reason that Frazier was able to defeat Ali in the first fight was due to Frazier's ability to weather the onslaught and march through the punches. Frazier's head movement was still there, and Ali lacked the Foreman/Tyson-like power. (3) Tyson beats Frazier just like Foreman did. Frazier was a notoriously slow starter, who could be knocked down and hurt early. Tyson had power like Foreman, and much more speed. He was a faster, stronger, more agile version of Frazier. It's an early knockout for Tyson. (4) Peak for Peak, I still take Tyson over Ali in a heads up match. Tyson was so fast, strong, determined, and DEFENSIVELY sound, that Ali would've been fighting for his life. Ali's speed would be mitigated by Tyson's, his power couldn't stop Tyson, and all of his intimidation would have been futile. Tyson at his peak was a machine, virtually incapable of being drawn off his gameplan. Ali thought as he went along (much like RJJ), while relying on athleticism, a steal chin, and fast hands. Tyson's mastery over the art of hit like a truck and don't get hit back would've been to much for the "Greatest". That being said, I've always said one thing about Ali. He may not have been the best ever, and he might not have been beatable in certain match-ups, but he will always be, "THE GREATEST"...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. All Spinks needed was another few seconds to pick himself up, and he would've been fine. Tyson was terrified of Spinks hahaha :rofl
