How come he was only throwing one punch at a time rather then the dazzling combos he threw against Gatti.
He was scoring ... its not about ineffective punching, but more about effective clean punching. If he's throwing one punch at a time and each time he throws he lands then thats alot more clear than throwing a ton of punches and having the majority of them blocked, ducked, and slipped.
because he respected hoya's power and counter punching ability more than he did gattis, especially at 154
Father Time. Remember what Roachcoach said about Oscar, that made Oscar so mad, he dissed Freddie at the Track on 24/7?
the price he would of payed at 154 would of been greater than at 140 had he been caught with a clean counter
To limit his vulnerability of coarse. Remember that Floyd moved up to these weights after originally fighting at 130 and so the vast majority of the guys at 147+ are going to naturally be bigger and stronger than he is. Landing pot shots all night long is his most effective strategy for scoring cleanly and to cut down on his opponents chances of landing their much heavier punches on him.
because he new de la hoya could be able to catch him in if he threw combos....... look at da fight on da last 10 sec of the 12 round and probably the most exciting part of the fight mayeather and de la hoya went add it for those last 10 sec and de la hoya was able to catch him with clean hard punches
in those last 10 sec Mayweather landed a clean left hook first then De La Hoya straight away countered a right hand. I think the left hook had more leverage. Besides you can't throw combos at everyone. Could Bernard Hopkins throw combos at someone like Haye, i don't think so he hardly landed combos on Trinidad, he did like one two three shots at a time which is what Floyd did to Oscar, except no knockout since Oscar has freakish chin.
just to give the impression that oscar is really "troubling" mayweather when he could of easily won that fight (even stopped him) if he wanted to. He purposely made the fight close (not saying it was planned a SD) but just a close fight so there was a possiblity of a rematch which equates to $$$$$$. It was scored a SD however floyd was always in full control. That alone suggests there is something dodgy about that fight. Thats my take on it anyway ..im sure everyone thinks im a nutter.
^Could be Floyd was laughing at Oscar during the fight, not just to mess with Oscars head he was lauging while retreating and Oscars jab did not do **** and keep him at bay. Someone make a video of Oscars jab in this fight and you will see Mayweather laughing at it, i don't need to because i have watched the fight numerous times. His jab however did make his nose bleed but it only landed like 6 times in the whole fight.
fighters like mayweather and oscar are the people that have changed boxing. They'r not what i call "real" fighters. They'r all about money. Real fighters are people like cotto, margo, morales etc. The best in the WW division (not in order) margo, cotto, williams and pbf. These guys should be fighting eachother just the way hagler, hearns, duran, leonard used to. But instead PBF may return to fight a pacman instead or Hatton who he already KO'd..even though its margo or williams who really deserve the shot. Legacy is judged throughout the fighters career not only a certain stage. If mayweather returns and fight hatton again..he just dmamaging his legacy rather than polishing it up.
