Patterson would not be as intimidated as he was with Liston remember Old George was Mr nice guy and only really picked up one quality win against Moorer and he was getting dominated in that fight. I would take Floyd via decision he may get knocked down but he' get up and outbox George.

Hate to be the voice of dissent but I think that Patterson woith the right game could give Foreman some problems.

Foreman was not a methodical puncher like Liston so provided Patterson dosnt just come boring in he can make this interesting.

jantior has a point, however I still couldn't envisage Patterson withstanding the early onslaught. I think he'd last a bit longer against Foreman than he did against Liston, though for the reasons he stated (Liston picks his shots better). So long as Patterson gets on his bike.

Exactly for how many seconds do you think Patterson could give Foreman some problems? Don't you think Foreman will just walk through anything Patterson has to offer, in even easier fashion than did Liston?

    No I dont.

I dont think that Foreman was in Listons class as a puncher or a finisher. I think that Johansens right was better than anything Foreman had in his arsenal.

I think that if Patterson is smart enough to stand off and box as he somtimes did then Foreman will get counterd and embarased for the first round and after that there will be a game of cat and mouse.

Of course Floyd will be walking a tightrope and eventualy he will fall off.

I dont think this has to be a blowout necisarily.

Foreman just too big; George by (T)KO. Floyd had the heart of a champion. NO ONE put him to sleep unlike many ATG HW's better than him who got literally cold-cocked.

"Sometimes did". How far did his boxing go against Liston, including the rematch when he had all the time in the world to come up with a plan?

He was only a beast against Patterson , a glass chinned lthwt. Maybe "beastly" against yourneyman Williams.........a mere stepping stone.

He must have left the beast (and I doubt there ever was one) at home twice against a green Ali. Unless beasts are in the habit of quiting, my definition of beast does not include that quality.

Or maybe while drunk wrestling with some cops makes him a "beast"....lol

Foreman would walk thru Patterson. Terrible matchup.

Not a fair fight is it? It's like putting Archie Moore in with Sonny Liston (although funnily enough Moore would fare much better because he was just a lot more cagey), we all know who's going to win eventually. Now Patterson at the cruiserweight level was just electric.
