Hatton won on points, Collazo won the fight...I always scored that one for Hatton, his early work and the knockdown being the difference but I felt like I gave the wrong man the nod...Its just the way boxing is scored sometimes the better man on the night comes up short.
Think i had it a draw going into the last round with Collazo then winning the 12th. It was a close fight which could have gone either way. Anyone who cries robbery in a universally regarded close fight is a moron or has an agenda.
Collazo by a few points. You know it's got to be clear when Johnny Nelson and Nicky Piper both gave it to him in the SKY studio
I think Collazo won but it was very close. So I won't say it was a robbery. But that wasn't the worst part!!!!! The worst part was Hatton got so scare he went back to 140lbs immediately. He said he wasn't going to fight at 147lbs anymore. Then come his majesty Mr. Cherrypicker and the HBO money machine and convinced him to go back up to 147lbs for one more fight. And they actually sold it like Hatton ever had a chance of winning. I mean, if you cannot beat Collazo convincingly you have not business being in a ring with Floyd. But we all know Floyd like his hand picked cherries!!!!!
http://www.hbo.com/boxing/events/2006/0513_collazo_hatton/columns/compubox_postfight.html I have to say I thought Hatton was awful in that fight, but he took it simply by his workrate and by coming forward. He could have easily lost if the judges had given the benefit to the champion in a lot of the tight rounds.
Collazo is still getting oppurtunites though. He got a big fight with Shane and lost rather lopsidely but now thats 2 years ago and hes got another fight and a chance to win a World Championship agian.
Like all of you said it was a very close fight, but I saw Collazo having the best part of it, but since he got drop on the 1st I'll gave it a draw fair and square. BTW from the 4th on it was almost all Collazo. We''ll see how Berto goes since he has a Hatton straightfoward jumpy style alike.
