Tauasa lost in the 1st round of the Contender via TKO 2nd round against Commonwealth & Canadian champ Troy Ross......**** it Tauasa is still my champ 4 cruiser & my Samoan brother good on you mate :good done Samoa & Aussie proud.....clip will be on tonight. http://www.boxingwatchers.com/2009/01/recap-contender-season-4-episode-6.html
I knew this a while back, and as stated before hope he drops weight, he just doesnt have the height for this division hence the punch that stopped him. He is a world beater and will be at a lower weight. Hopefully he can show the dedication needed to succeed in his future in this sport:good
I reckon good on him for having a crack at this higher level, I think if he possibly can go down to light heavy he should. Saw a bit of footage of him as an 18 year old super-middle a while ago and it would be great to see him somewhere down there again
this is a bad result but i hope lawrie can bounce back, if he looses the weight and makes light heavy hell be much better off but its all about lifestyle and what people prefer.... what are his options now does he want to continue to box?
Im from the same part of town as Tuasa and pretty good mates with 2 of his younger brothers..I was also coached by his former amateur trainer.. Its a well known fact that though at one stage(the start) of his pro career he was a very talented super middle.Fit,fast and had plenty of skill... With time(and marriage) LT became more content with life. His weight went up as its well known that he dont like to run the kms etc required to cut weight..And like any bloke he loves his tucker.. From what i see he has a nice personal life and still a fairly accomplished boxing career(mostly on a domestic level)...His days of being a world beater or genuine contender were left behind awhile ago... Just wish he opened up a gym in Mount Druitt and encourage more people to pursue fighting in the ring rather then the streets..LT is a highly respected figure out west..
Yeh thats true enough as well battler, If a guy with his skills could somehow teach that skillset to a gym full of young fighters it would be a boost to the talent pool in aus boxing. I'd imagine there would be a lot of young blokes out mt druitt way with all the potential in the world just not many oppourtunities to get in the ring and have a go. So does lawry make a living out of boxing and sponsorship etc or does he have a dayjob as well?
come on asif you didnt know... theres been no tv date set yet for this contender yet for australia has there?
Like most of the fellas around west way that fight mma or pro boxing he works the doors of clubs .lol... I think between sponsors, fight purses and weekend doorman work he would make abit of decent cash..
