Could be jealousy towards Haye i think. A couple of fights at heavy, and earning a title shot is not going to sit well from other british heavyweights. Maybe Skelton knows something we don't know...
I like this fight for both men to be honest. Haye has what it takes to beat Skelton for me. If Haye hadnt got himself all over the news with his antics then nobody would even be mentioning him and the Klits in the same breath at the moment. However, a win over Skelton makes Haye a candidate. A ranked contender rather than a brash up start. From Skelton's point of view, this is a big payday and if he loses then he can say he lost against someone who will be getting a title shot. Obviously the risk is for Haye, if he's beaten then he has no chance of a title shot. However, I really would fancy Haye in this. Would be a good fight for June/July, followed by a title shot around November for Haye...
Matt wants a big money fight and probably sees Haye as his best bet.Yes he is slow and rough but he may give David a few more problems than people think. He takes a decent shot for a start and is a reasonable size. Most will expect a blow out for Haye but what if Skelton is still in there after 6 rounds,i think it could get interesting.Cant see the fight happening though to be honest.
Haye and Skelton are two completly different types of fighters, and their positives and negatives cancel out quite nicely. Hayes boxing technique and power is in a different class to Matt, but he's got questionable stamina and chin.Whereas Skelton's main strength is his strength and fitness with a good set of whiskers. Also he's a master of dirty fighting and messing his opponent about. I can see a senerio where if Haye trys to bomb him out and wastes to much energy,Skelton could wear him down and come on strong later on. Obiviously the only chance of these two meeting would be if Haye loses to the Klit brothers and if Skelton manages to pick up a world belt.
Don't think so! I think if Skelton can withstand the early onslaught it would get interesting late. Haye's stamina isn't his strong point!
Skelton has done more on a British leve lthan Haye, Skelton has a right to call him out as hay hasn't even gone for the Local Belts!
I believe FW offered Haye £1 million to fight Skelton and he pretty much laughed at it saying he wasn't in boxing to pay pensions etc. Can't blame Haye for going after the top guys in the division rather than trying to prove that he is superior at domestic level when we already know he is the best
