Size difference

    Here is a photo of Shane Mosley after his last fight as a lightweight standing next to John Brown. The day before Mosley weighed 135lbs and Brown 134 1/2lbs.

    Yeah, scary photo. Brown did start off at 130lbs, but grew into a welterweight late in his career.

    Hard to tell for sure because of Brown's oversized shirt.

    Obviously Mosley is bigger, but I think part of the apparent size difference is Mosley's height. He was tall for a LW (and Brown was short for one).

    Mosley is also standing closer to the camera.

    What was Shane's unofficial weight on fight night? I bet 10+ pound more.

    Hard to tell for sure? Mosley isn't just taller but much bigger physically. Mosely wasn't overly tall for a lightweight. He stood at 5' 9". He doesn't look much taller than the vast majority of his lightweight opponents.

    Mosley isn't standing closer to the camera. They are both standing side to side.

    Mosley has good genes. Doesn't look a day older since then.

    Brown has bigger legs, bigger arms, and at least as big(if not bigger) in the body. Brown is clearly as lean as Mosley. Shane is considerably taller, but I bet their weight isn't considerably different.

    Mosley is clearly bigger across the waist, chest and shoulders. Just bigger across the board. Mosley's legs aren't much thicker, I'll give you that.

    Amazing to think that Brown is three inches taller than Barbadoes Joe Walcott, who competed up to over welterweight. Weight classes have changed ever since.

    Mosley is clearly not bigger across the board. Look at Brown's arms, legs, and back.

    Mosley makes Brown look tiny. Brown's oversized shirt does him no justice either.
