i started boxing in april 2008,i had my 1st fight in october 08 and lost a clear decision.this is my 2nd fight in january 2009.id really appreciate any advice you guys can offer, cheers. im in white [YT]8d-nfObnFQU#[/YT]
My humble opinion: - More jabbing. - More upper body movement. - Less signaling (when throwing the right for example). It got better as the fight progressed, you looked a bit tense and nervous in round one. Still not many jabs though. I liked your body work, perhaps you could sneak in some uppercuts to the head afterwards. Your left hooks were also very good halfway into the fight, judging by the way you throw it you could double up on it as well. Congratulations on your deserved win btw :good
You looked alright for your second fight. Only thoughts from me are use your jab and straight more, really try and use your distance. You had a longer reach than that guy but you were always close and throwing hooks. The other is after you throw a punch (anything) bring your hands straight back to you gaurd. You would throw something, and then slowly bring your hands back to about your chest, then bring then back to your chin. In some cases he was able to catch you right after you threw because of that.
thanks guys, i think in the 3rd i kept a better guard and got hit less,i noticed the lack of jabbing when watching it back compared to the other fights on the night, i can uppercut really well on the pads but struggle with it against a live opponent i find.
good left hook at 1.15 he felt that one for sure you can see it slowed him down, but yea use the jab to stop him when he moves forward, and move forwards behind your jab to open him up for the hooks, thats my humble opinion =) nice one anyway =)
Nice bodywork. Rare to see in novice amateurs. One thing though, when you come in to throw bodypunches, you sometimes lean in a bit too much with your upper body rather than by crouching your legs. You left your chin a bit open by leaning in like that and got caught. Make sure your feet are in range when you throw bodypunches, and then dip down to throw.
you move well, though the punches arent really linking together properly you do have alot of clay to mold. NEEED to jab and when you do jab you move your whole body into it so all the iniative and snap is gone from the punch that suppose to have that snap and speed. also the right hand, you are loading up and have a rocking motion whcih is an indicator that you are goign to throw it,but that will go and will become more natural in time thats just ironing out. good showing for your 2nd fight love the sneaky left hook to the body at 2:41 and the jab is effecrtive and it in your arsenal 1:54 is a good indicator of that. :good fabodeeezzy
Nice fight. Looked like you had him in some trouble in the third round. Was it me or did the second round seem a lot shorter than the other two?
yeah,it was only a minute long, you gota wonder how someone ****s up watching the seconds hand make 2 full rotations but whaddaya do?
congratulations man good fight. First 2 was close but that last was good. you worked the body real well but you diidnt seem to bend your knees as you went to it. you need to pump your jab out as you have a good jab and it will set you up for other shots and keep an opponent off balance like you did twice in the 2nd. especially in that fight you was the smaller guy (not by much though) you use the jab to get in range. also in the 1st and 2nd you looked for a big right straight to much and got caught looking to throw it. also you moved forward and back in straight lines but that comes in time to move in angles. i liked your hooks though especially your left but you sometimes slapped with it but when you landed it was brillaint. your a good fighter take the advise of your trainer and some advice from this board and you could ebcome real good. also how old are you? what weight? where you from?
It would appear that your trainer never told you about the evils of pulling straight back. Both you and your opponent were doing it. I have to admit I don't like that European style of straight in and straight out. Usually it is better to step forward or sideways. I also saw you step back from a lefthook. That is really a no-no! A better quality opponent would have hit you with a big right-cross.
totally agree raplphy another point i noted was you were open to counter punching as you started throwing you need to bring your hands rigth back into the guard after a punch and keep your other hand in the guard position while you throw. but again excleant fight and a good win
Wat a mess up in the 2nd round by the timekeeper i had a problem like that in the scottish novice final when i had to do 1 and a half minute rounds but only did 1ns its amazing how a guy who just has to look at a clock can **** up so bad
thanks for the advice, im trying to focus on using angles more in sparing but once i was in there i just reverted to brawler abit. im 20,fight at 64kg and im from leicester.
