Calzaghe wouldve beaten Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins at any point in there career ... if it were earlier he probably wouldve stopped them ... no joke ... He's just on another level than those guys and not to take anything away from them - they're great, but Calzaghe is a special talent ... I don't like the way he fights, but he gets the job done and he wins.

He would've beaten Sven Ottke and James Toney as well --

Its a reason why he fell under the radar for so long --

The Joe Calzaghe from 97 until now ... Hopkins nor Jones can't touch

I'm sure that Joe Calzaghe was a good enough talent to go to the games ... he's an olympic ready fighter ...

  5. You got me there, But this guy has obviously come on here because he couldn't stand the warranted critisism his Idol was getting

The people of a nation that has had limited success in producing great athletes are inclined to give excessive praise to those of the same heritage that perform at a high level.

calzaghe and mayweather.... biggest frauds in boxing today. talented, skillfull fighters but more intent on protecting their 0 then fighting the best.

It wouldn't change a thing for me. Pros and Ams are two different sets of rules. If he got a gold, it just means he was a good amateur boxer. Not too mention all the talent then would be very young and unproven (unless he faced off against a few Cuban and former Soviet boxers). Your point, it's almost pointless. Pros are a totally different game. It would be a nice feather in Joe's cap, but it wouldn't change a damn thing. I'm looking at his pro record, and I'm still not impressed. Great fighter, yeah that's Joe. All time great? Are you ****ing serious? I can't wait for this issue to die down.

he probably woulda been a good amatuer with his slappy sloppy style too. but the point still stands as a pro he never fought anyone until lacy, and then too little too late. then retired when the **** was half baked.

he was supposed to go to the olympics but he would only fight on the condition that enzo was his trainer and that could not be agreed so he ended up not getting picked and the person he had beat in the ABA#s got the nod instead.

calzaghe not going to the olympics is still a sore subject to a few people i know who have followed him from the amature days
