During 2008, Morales tried his best to push for a showdown with countryman Juan Manuel Marquez, but the fight never picked up steam.

Erik has put on some weight since the long lay off and recently returned to the gym to start training. He wants to return in the month of July, at lightweight, and make one final run for a world title.

Morales wants to be the 1st Mexican fighter to win 4 major titles in 4 different weight classes.

Except for some miracle I cant see it but I will be praying like mad that he does it, he already should be the 1st 4 time champ from Mexico, that Diaz decision, hometown one I might add was BS, now Erik is likely a worse fighter as that was more than a year ago.

If any current Mexican deserves that 4th title its Morales, he left everything in the ring & was pure entertainment.

As usual, I will support the man 1000%.... go Erik.

A magnificent man. Dont want to see him fight again though even if he does win a title he will no doubt steer himself to the weakest of the bunch. So lets hope Marquez is not a fight down the line. And whats the big thing with multi weight titles. Just because someone can operate in different divisions? Does not matter to me I mean DLH beating Sturm and RJJ beating the awful Ruiz and well you get my point.

JMM will blow him away early. It will be brutal. I really hope it doesn't happen. Erik was a magnificent warrior and a brave brilliant *******. I don't want to see that happen to him. He's shot - remember, he couldn't beat David Diaz.

winner of marquez-diaz makes the most sense.

who would you give erik the best chance at beating? -jmm or diaz?

Marquez would whoop morales as would Guzman, baby bull, Cassamayor, Campbell, and even Katsidis...he should stay retired and tell him to take Barrera with him

yh but surely he wouldnt get a shot to fight the winner right away?? or would he...i couldnt say who he would have a better chance of beating. At first though id say diaz...but maybe JMM will provide greater motivation etc for him

call me :nut but i think EM has a better shot at beating jmm than diaz.

diaz is naturally bigger and his aggresive style plays more into eriks' current weakness'.
