Micheal spinks

He was a much better boxer and fighter than his toothless brother Leon.

Spinks was the man and a very respected fighter.

 

I think he was paid like 20 million for that fight! Probably made his decision easier!

 

Back in the day Micheal was one of my favorites. At 175 he was one of the best ever. Undisputed Champion, solid resume', and undeated at the weight. At 175 he fought pretty much all the tops guys in a fairly strong era.

 

Spinks made, I believe, around $11 million for the Tyson fight. That, coupled with the fact that he'd just been demolished and probably didn't have much drive left all made it an easy decision for him.

 

such an underrated fighter slightly ugly style but very effective and used it to his advantage. I do think he had knee problems going into the tyson fight that coupled with a lack of drive probably made the decision easy. I actually think he could have given mike a decent fight he just adopted the wrong tactics on the night and fought scared. Its a shame whenever people think spinks they think of the 91 second destruction and not how great he was as a light heavy

 

Probably because for younger fight fans like myself, the only thing we've seen or could've seen was the Tyson fight, I haven't seen any of his other fights on ESPN Classic except that one.

Michael Spinks is greater than Mike Tyson ever thought about being p4p.

 

Arguably the best H2H LHW ever, quite a dominant champion in a strong era. Easily among the top 5 ever in the division's history.

There was no real reason to continue fighting considering the knee problems and all that he had already accomplished.

 

One of the best ever Lt heavies and decent at heavywt.

 

He beat Larry Holmes when Larry was 48-0 and one fight away to equal Marciano's record

 

An ATG. Top 5 LHW all-time, undefeated in one of the best eras of that division.

At HW, he was good, but nothing special really.

 

A top 3 light heavy ATG. A long, great fight with an akward style. Undefeated at light heavy. could have been a great Cruiserweight, too.
