I like Jones by UD...Jones didn't take many chances throughout his career and I don't think Joe would be knocked out...Jones however would counter Joe's punches all night and wouldn't respect his power...Jones was alot faster than Roy in his prime...Maybe if your a Joe C fan you can argue that his handspeed was in the same league (which I don't believe is true at all) but ROYS FOOT SPEED AND FOOT WORK WAS RIDICULOUS COMPARED TO JOE'S...I could see Roy knocking Joe down 1 or 2 times in this fight too!...TOO MUCH SPEED AND REFLEXES BY PRIME RJJ- Roy Jones Jr 118-110 UD...115-113 UD across the board if the fight was in Europe cuz the judges would find a way to take rounds away from Jones..:thumbsup

The thing is, especially at his peak, Roy fought a lot with his head unprotected, with his hands down by his sides. He rarely, if ever, fought guys with Calzaghe's speed. Even at his peak, perhaps even especially at his peak due to him not being used to being pressured too much, I think Roy could have found Calzaghe's speed and flurries tough to deal with.

Joe would have put Roy on the defensive, got him to cover up. And when Jones covered up, he wouldn't have been able to fight 'his' style as much, which was very dependent on him having his hands down by his sides.

..and if Joe got Roy to fight a way he was unused to doing, then Calzaghe would have a good chance of winning.

Thank you, I've seen a lot of RJJ's fights. And well done on your high post count and all, but frankly, I couldn't give a **** how many times you or I have posted here. It's what what you say that counts.

Peak Jones (of the Toney fight in '94) vs peak Calzaghe (imo of the Lacy fight in '06) - I have thought about this fight a lot. A lot. And I genuinely believe it would be a helluva lot easier for Roy than any Calzaghe fans would anticipate. Calzaghe's main weaponry is handspeed and workrate. Peak Jones had far faster hands and feet and could easily match or exceed Calzaghe's workrate. Whether Jones decided to go hunting Joe and go for the stoppage, or fought on the backfoot and picked Joe off on the counter, I can see Jones consistently outlanding Joe, using his skills and his speed, being far more accurate, winning almost every round, clearly outclassing Joe, and eventually late on Roy's vastly superior punching power would take its toll and after flooring Joe he would swoop and finish (the way that the shot '08 version was unable to), and KO Joe around round 9-11. This is two different classes of fighter IMO. The 168 version of RJJ is one of the very best fighters h2h in the history of this sport IMO. By comparison, I've never been very impressed with Calzaghe's ability. I thought he was excellent in the second half of the Kessler fight, but that half of a fight is the only time I've really been impressed by him in his entire career - and Kessler was no Jones. I believe 2001 Hopkins and early 90s Toney would also beat peak Joe. He just wasn't that good IMO, the zero fools people.

    JMHO :good

RJJ by 7th/8th round bloody stoppage.

calzaghe goes down swinging but is overwhelmed, constantly walking onto roy's freakishly quick right hand.

as was said earlier joe's aggression would be his undoing in this fight and i don't think he can just drop to the outside and beat roy from there like he did against kessler after taking a few too many uppercuts when fighting in close.

he's going to be frustrated with every little style adjustment he makes that fails to pay and get more and more sloppy and open as the fight goes on resulting in roy exploiting his great handspeed to pummel on joe whenever he jumps in to try and flurry.

I think a prime Roy Jones at 168 stops Calzaghe late.

A pre hand injury prime Calzaghe would be able to KO Jones.
