I remember reading somewhere that Toney wouldnt come to England to fight Benn and Benn wouldnt go over there to fight Toney. Not sure whether it was the same story between Eubank and Toney. Nunn, dont know.
The Toney interview where he dissed both Benn and Eubank was hilarious. I have the IBF title, Benn has the WBC title - and the other one.... we don't even count that! James 'The Truth' Toney :deal I would have given either Benn or Eubank a fair shake at beating Toney, Eubank more-so.....
"I'll whup you and your mamma's ass" I seem to recall Absolute gold, totally not what you expect to see on primetime saturday night TV. Toney is a legendary **** talker. Benn was disgusted, genuinely... "He's as thick as two short planks of wood" he said One of my all time fondest memories is that exchange I think Mickey Rourke was alongside Toney giving it the big one, pity Benn couldn't have got him in the ring and shown him what being a hard man is really about, that I would have loved to see
Toney (via live video link, talking about Benn & Eubank): "Ill whoop they and they Momma's asses" Eubank: "Did he just say something about my Mother?"
I recall Barry Hearn say in an documentary, that Don King would have options on the winner of Benn-Eubank II (actually both guys win or loose). He was planning on taking whoever won over to the states to face his fighter who was Nunn. But because a draw was not mentioned in the contract,King couldn't get his sticky fingers on them.
Toney would have splattered both of them at the time. Toney was in the top 5 P4P around the time you were talking about
No way. Eubanks style would have meant that he would have lost a wide UD to Toney, you simply cant fight for a minute a round against Toney. Benn would have had the better chance of the two.
toney weren't exactly a mr busy himself was he. even in his prime he could be lazy. in saying all that i also think toney beats both. certainly benn. eubank fight would have been cagier and more debateable i think.
They were not o his doorstep the same way Benn and Watson were... Both Nunn and Toney wouldve beaten Eubank.
