if briggs drops the weight he will be a huge factor, a solid beard, fast handspeed and an absolutely murderous right hand, he is ridiculously talented and gets no respect for it, its just a matter of how much he wants it and if he wants it bad enough he can still shake up the hw division, iggy got lucky he fought a sick and unhealthy briggs, briggs can beat vladimir no doubt, i dont know bout vitali tho

Some people do. I would call Briggs a one time champ and a one time titlist (WBO). I think "Champion" should be reserved for guys who are undisputed or linear.

He as Linear but far far removed from being the main man. The second George felt like not facing top competition......the tag of being the man was removed.

The Lineal tag was something George used and handpicked opponents.....getting some gift wins by the judges. Ironically Briggs got the fortune of the Judges by the time they fought.

Lets say Lennox Lewis comes back now and faces.......erm Rob Calloway.....beats him up. Do we say he is the champion or holds the lineal?.......yes from stats based point we do but not in the true sense of the word.........becuase in that case the mere Lineal belt itself can be used and abused.....as Lennox could every two yrs fight a total scrub.

He has always looked the part but he has also fought mediocre fighters for most of his career. He cant really cut it when he moves up in class.

Holyfield is a former CHAMPION/ LEGEND
Briggs is a former WBO title holder.....and couldnt manage to defend it one time. his wins have come against JOKES and when he steps up at all, he loses...and has excuses for each loss. night and day difference. holyfield puts asses in the seats, briggs....doesnt

His two career highlights were a gift decision over a 48 year old Foreman, and getting his ass kicked all over the ring by Lennox Lewis after having a couple good rounds against him, and that was a decade ago

At this point he's nothing more than a roid freak who throws 5 punches a round. The only reason some people even still talk about him is because a lot of ignorant people think because he's huge and has big muscles he's actually good

The guy has lost to Sedreck Fields and got shut out by Jameel McCline, and lost his last fight two years ago by a wide margin against Ibragimov. I don't see why he's even being mentioned. George Foreman has as good a shot at making noise in the division as Shannon Briggs

Briggs don't want to fight anyone and expects to get a title shot. He don't even attempt to box any more, he just tries to land one big punch several times a round. Briggs needs to give it up. I think he trains more for bodybuilding then acctual boxing.

It's called sarcasm, but considering that a prime and in shape Briggs needed a GIFT to beat a 48 year old George it's probably not much of a stretch.

Briggs is a roided out freak who is totally gassed after 3 rounds even if he's only thrown 10 punches. The guy is total fraud who hasn't done **** ever, but especially in the past decade

Yea but Holyfield is a household big name. Briggs isn't.

I won't argue with that. However, Briggs has much more recently been a title holder than Holyfield has...and that should carry more weight than being a household name.

Briggs has it in him for one last hurrah, but his last hurrah may very well have come.
