The case of Antonio Margarito, his aura of invincibility gone. No longer viewed as a super hero. As a fighter who had the ability to withstand punches, to the face and head better than any body else in boxing today. As a guy who at his best, would throw over 100 punches a round. Overwhelming his opponents into bloody submission. Now, all of the praise he worked so hard to earn has been revoked. In one very telling and memorable night. He was dethroned, exposed and humiliated. Dethroned by Shane Mosely's professionalism, talent and ability. Exposed by Nassem Richardson's keen eye. Humiliated in front of the entire boxing public. Hell I threw a ton of praise his way too. Me a very proud Puerto Rican singing his praises. I mean he looked amazing in dispatching Miguel Cotto. He busted his face and took him out like the champion that he was, right? One huge problem! Did he have loaded gloves that night? As Cotto has already said more than once this week Only Margarito can answer that question. I saw the fight again, and he sure looked unnaturally heavy handed. What I noticed most, was that even punches that were not thrown that hard, hurt Cotto a lot. It was as if he was being hit by a foreign object in there. If you saw the fight, do you think that Margarito was packing plaster that night? Please share your opinion and reasons. On other matters: To those that feel that Cotto could never beat Margo in a rematch, how do you feel now?
only blind margo fans and part-time boxing fans thought margarito was invincible. Many of us new his limitations. Also keep in mind that margo has been outboxed on more than a few occasions. I'll admit i didn't see his chin being demolished like that.
Could be a factor - but not the sole reason. Mosley demolished his chin because he fought a perfect fight, and bullied around the supposed "middleweight". It was great. Seeing a little guy like Mosley fighting like he was the bigger man - and throwing atom bombs on margo's face. But other factors including margo's layoff (party, weight) margo's last fight where he got severely beaten aswell, amoung others. Yeah him getting caught may have discouraged him but we'll never know. Just like we won't know if he was hitting cotto with cement fists.
why do people keep saying Margarito had plaster when the CAC has not even revealed what he had. I bet it was simply extra piece of tape to protect his knuckles.Secondly Margarito can beat Cotto easily in a rematch. Margarito was set up by GBP.
Cotto was beat up fair and square and cotto nut huggers are making excuses. Is ****ing boxing dude of course margarito shots hurt cotto. Your comment regarding the fact that you saw the fight over and came to the conclusion that Margarito shots seems heavy handed and that even simple shots hurt Cotto is nonsense.
Until it's proven that he cheated in those fights I will continue to give him credit for all of his wins. I will say that he's a total **** for trying to cheat against Mosley (though I still don't know for sure what it was in his gloves and what effect it would have had). I mean, Jesus, you could ruin somebody beating somebody up with loaded gloves, let alone a 37 year old man who's already been in his share of wars. I think it's despicable. But I still consider his wins over Cotto, Cintron, Clottey and others to be legit.
I dunno if I can consider his wins over cotto and cintron legit. I mean if he was packing his gloves for a fight against mosley who most gave no shot against him then surely he woulda done the same against cotto who most felt would beat him. if they're gonna cheat against an againg mosley who was perceived as a far lesser threat than cotto then his gloves must have been loaded against Cotto.
we share the same theory man, cotto didn't recieve too many punches and mostly cotto block those punches with his arm and still it was hurting him. It was hurting him more than the clean punches/combinations he throws at margo. Margo despite getting hit with a lot of clean shots that night even smiled like an evil twisted smile that he had something. Where was that smile the night he fought mosley? why did it suddenly changed into an awfully worried look? did he left that smile at the locker room?
His chin wasn't demolished though, look how many big big punches Mosely threw before Margo eventually went down.
